Welcome Back Miss C! &mdash 09/04/06 - 05:21:34 PM
Ah this reminds me of why you ar one of my favorite MJers! A beautifully
put together piece. Thoughful and wonderfully arranged. Always such a
gentle touch. Thanks! [ Reply to This ]
new genre &mdash 09/04/06 - 05:26:07 PM
a thinking persons new age triptronic hip notica. I loved the sequencer
type parts and the swelling vocal string pads. The whole listening
experience was a daydream turned surreal. The audio clips serve great
form here. A smorgasborg of ansgt filled speeches. Wonderful picture,
is that Venice? you captured the rapture in that pic. Well done [ Reply to This ]
deeply moving, as usual &mdash 09/04/06 - 05:28:59 PM
Some nitpicks first... a couple of the sound samples are a little hard to
understand ("We must allow ourselves a brief period of *ignorance*"...
did he say?), and the really nice deep throb that hits sometimes early
on is way off to the right, which is lopsided in headphones... I'd make
that closer to center. I'd reduce the number of sound-bites slightly, to
let your sweeping Lynch-esque music peek through more.
But you know that I only pick on you because I find your music so
sweeping and personal... sheesh this is another really nice one! Thank
you for giving your MissC fans another goodie!

Beautiful, as always, Miss C! &mdash 09/04/06 - 10:39:22 PM
First thing that came to mind when I started listening to this track, was
that it has an Enya feel. I love the staccato strings and the plucking and
various elements you've got going on. Beautiful melodies that
enrapture my aural senses. Your music is always a treat to me. I hope
to aspire to write and arrange as well as you. My problem is that I tend
to rush things way too much. I just need to take the time, however long
it takes. That's when the quality and thoroughness shows. You do
make quality music, Miss C. It's like a modern-day symphony. I hold
your abilities is high regard. This latest track of yours, is nothing short
of amazing. It has a fantastic feel and at times, lifts me up into another
'fantasy' dimension. I'm on my third listen and I hear new things each
time I play it. I must DL this track and FAV. Brilliant work Miss C! By the
way, it's good to have you back here at MacJams. Take care! Peace!

and beautiful, with a great message put together from the vocal bits, nice production / mix, I like the drum sound. Thanks 4 the 1 year tribute song 4 all the survivers of katrina and shame on the gov't for its handling of such a awful tragedy. [ Reply to This ]

this is great. Not normally my kind of music, but I really enjoyed it. I like the space that you inject into the music, nothing is rushed. Excellent. [ Reply to This ]
Excellent..... &mdash 09/05/06 - 04:08:07 PM
I don't really think that this piece needs anything else.
It also probably sounds just about how you intended it to sound, hence your upload.
I can also add that hearing Winston S Churchill brought back memories. The voiceover fitted the music, IMHO, very well.
Another Quality Mix.

really nice track Miss C... &mdash 09/06/06 - 11:48:57 AM
The fine touches in this, such as the frenzied clicks and thumps, are nice... a natural way to update of your sound. Of course, what would a Miss Chaos song be without those grand sweeping melodies? It enjoyed this... it helped me take a break from the business of my day. [ Reply to This ]
Kool &mdash 09/06/06 - 12:50:04 PM
Very, very kool mix of orchestral sounds and elecronic, with a tasteful sprinkling of serious sound bites. Smooth, beautiful production, just what I would expect form you MC. [ Reply to This ]
Well... &mdash 09/06/06 - 03:30:12 PM
very very well done...surreal. Peace. Quiet. An excellent mix with voices that fit perfect the sound.
I like it.
Keep it up.

Loved the music &mdash 09/06/06 - 09:55:13 PM
and would prefer it without the newsbites I think.
Which is not to say the voiceovers are out of place, I get what you're
saying and of course that's cool. It certainly works as a commentary.
However, it's a helluva piece of music too and I would like to just let
take me away on its own, I think. [ Reply to This ]

Reflections on public address &mdash 09/07/06 - 12:13:58 PM
Nice arrangement. Complex, but never busy. The ticky rhythm leads
very gently from the orchestral intro to the electronica. The mellow
little synth that glides out the melody is a nice fit - my favorite
moment is when it first appears. A lush choice and blend of sounds all
around.
Quite a contrast between the rhetoric of the statesman Churchill and
that of the working man Nagin. Both important moments in public
discourse. Both impactful. [ Reply to This ]

Worth two versions... &mdash 09/08/06 - 07:41:23 AM
This is an incredible piece of work. I would love to hear it w/o back
voices. The music is beautiful. Don't get me wrong here, I know where
you're coming from with this, but my, my what sound! Please feel free to
email me track so I can hear this music stand alone. I like it that much!

Sigh, indeed &mdash 09/08/06 - 07:09:19 PM
This music is lush and superb. So beautiful that the voice-overs began to
annoy me. I'd like to hear this without them. But if you keep them,
perhaps only at the beginning and at the end. No reason why you can't
post two versions, however. One with voice-overs and one without. [ Reply to This ]
MISS C SAYS... &mdash 09/08/06 - 08:34:47 PM
Thanks, all, for stopping by and giving such wonderful insight to your
thoughts as you listened to this! I realize the seriousness of the tone in
this -- it's something I've been affected by pretty hard over the last
year. You know, that feeling when you know that at this very moment,
catastrophe is imminent and you feel so helpless! I imagine that's how
Mayor Nagin felt. You can hear the desperation in his voice -- it really
digs hard at my heart every time I hear that interview. In my mind, that
is desperation at it's most audible.
There's much to be read into with the layering of the two speeches, but
I'm glad that you all can hear the music for what it is and that some of
you enjoyed it. Thanks much, MacJams!
And, yes... I am considering posting an instrumental version now that I
see some are interested. :-) [ Reply to This ]

Of course, u would be the first to make me cry upon my return here - MissC, this is so you... - Compassionate - Stunning - Caring - Sarcastic - 'Matter of fact' - Present, but just passing through - Intellegent - Humble - Social isolationist - A fresh brew of a really good cup of something sorely needed - Gracious understatement - And just good to the core -
I miss you - Thanks for this MissC - D [ Reply to This ]
I love this &mdash 09/10/06 - 03:19:32 PM
All the different parts put together
The vocals...the slightly distorted radio recording
This reminds me so much of Moby
And I love Moby's music
Except this...has more variation and I think is more interesting
I really like it...good job

artistic newsreel &mdash 09/10/06 - 08:21:52 PM
I like the admixture of life sounds. Very cool. An urban downtempo symphonic narrative something-or-other. Lots of anticipation and angst. "I can't take it any longer. I don't think I can hold out." Poignant. A highly stylistic and artful war newsreel.
Excellent cover art. [ Reply to This ]
thoughts from the bull... &mdash 09/10/06 - 09:14:44 PM
you were right, Miss... it's a "weird" one, but nothing out of the stable
of what one might expect from your skills.
very mellow, yet thoughtfully constructed (as always). that's what i
enjoy about your music so much - that no matter what you put
together, it always relays a sense of thoughtfulness in the production.
i know the sample-bits are political, but they sort of drone out after a
while. it's not a bad thing at all. in fact, i wouldn't mind a version of
this without the vocal samples. it's a lovely, breathing piece with or
without the samples.
anyhow, without rambling, i really enjoyed this. thanks always! [ Reply to This ]
Are you sure you're not Moby and Enya's love child? &mdash 09/10/06 - 09:24:19 PM

It's great to hear one of your pieces, again. You bring in some very
thought provoking voice clips. I would like to hear it as just an
instrumental, too. You have a real talent for composing pieces that are
complex, without being complicated. (Does that make sense?) [ Reply to This ]
my ears thank you &mdash 09/11/06 - 01:37:27 PM
Amazing soundscape, so well balanced and produced. Fragile and strong, wide and focused at the same time. A real delicatesse to cherish for sure.

Well done! &mdash 10/13/06 - 10:46:24 AM
The use of sampled voices, the opposed overall downtempo feel with
the frenetic hi-hat, and the orchestral-contra-synth lead makes the
whole thing flow along like the six party nuclear talks: very tensely
while appearing to be a smooth process. Sweet!

Hadn't been on site much recently so apologies for the lateness of this
comment (although having said that I actually rather like having
comments down the line...)
This is a magnificent piece of work - truly bittersweet. Seductive
melodies with an edge and provocative samples. Peering through opulent
velvet drapes at a scene of strife beyond. Disturbing.

Got a feel of Enya about it but much cooler..The vocal samplings are so original and unpredictable and yet meaningful. Heard some of my own hopes and fears in there.. Have we met?.. no maybe not. Must be universal hopes and fears then.
this spoke to me on many levels.. great track..thnx [ Reply to This ]

I just discovered you as I listened to your latest political endeavor. I think you see below the surface, much like I tend to think I do. Sometimes a song is all I can do to allow myself to come to terms with the emotions I feel about these "big" events that seem to be beyond my control. Sorry that's so wordy. But I think you understand. Seriously; I look forward to your music.

Have you been? &mdash 01/24/07 - 03:42:09 PM
I have (the bridge in Venice, not the sadness in Nawlins). It's easy to understand the name when you look out the narrow windows and figure that for many it was the last look at the light of day. Likely an intended parallel? Anyhoo - I digress ... great tune - found this one perusing the "Downtempo" category selections. Glad it led me here. Unlike others on here, I'm a fan of borrowing news clips and weaving them into song. Maybe it's all the Negativland in my past, who knows. Really great stuff! [ Reply to This ]
