Description:
A few months ago, I bought myself a new iMac, and so my old iMac moved to my daughter's bedroom. Of course, GB still being on it. I teached her some basics of this application in a couple of hours.
Today, she asked me to listen to her first song. Gosh, I was nailed to the ground. And I swear, I did not offer her any help with that song. Moreover, I was even not aware that she was making a song at all.
She used only loops and her lovely voice (recorded through the pinhole mic of the Mac). The amazing thing is: she wrote the lyrics in perfect rhyme. Sorry, it's in Flemish :-) The song is about horses (paarden), her favourite animals.
Her name is Flo, and she's 11. And I'm her very proud father...

This is beautiful. I can see Paarden galloping free on a flowery hill... so
from a dad to a dad, she has a wonderful voice, and the lyrics fit
beautifully into the song, she's pretty much dead-on key through the
whole thing, she came up with an enjoyable melody, and her Flemish trill
and little descending note were really fun touches. This is great, I will
play it for my daughter, who will be 14 in a month... she too likes to sing
and make songs. I am very impressed, you have a creative and talented
young lady there! Faved!

She's got the wonderful talents of her father! This sounds very good,

This is a wonderfull song. Very nice for a first song. I hope that Flo likes
making music as like she loves horses. So i can stay exited to hear more.
I also have a daughter which shares my passion for music and horses.

context I've heard on MJ. Can't wait until Flo gets at her dad's mic's
and other recording goodies. Walter, I can see why you're feeling so

I love the sound of the Flemish, and such a nice confident voice, and the
simplicity and subtle variation in the loop construction. Sort of an odd
ending, but nothing too jarring there, but it does sort of just end with a
little bit of a loose end. Just something to pay attention to on the next

What a great start for a songwriter! As a father with musical children, I
share your pride, too. This wonderful gift we can share with our kids is as
sweet as life gets. I can't say I've ever heard Flemish before, although my
family name comes from Flanders, and my father was in the liberation
forces of Belgium in WW2. What a lovely introduction to the language of

Now the secrets out... - How easy it is to make a tune w/ loops - Not! - It is very difficult to do what she has accomplised. And I hear... that it takes a special talent - If not talent, I can at least say that it takes me 30 to 40 hours of some fairly intense focus to put together a tune that sounds halfway decent w/ loops - Maybe the talent is in having that much patience or ability to focus... Regardless, I don't want to know that it took your daughter less time then this to put this tune together- And with very nice vocal work too - Just please don't tell me - This is a very impressive piece of work - I will be watching for what happens next, as we should on the look out - A star is rising - This is quite impressive - Kudos! - And thanks for sharing - Cydniko [ Reply to This ]

Is there anything as pure in this world as a child's expression through music and song? She was wonderful! Her composition is dreamy and playful...and I really enjoyed listening to it (and trying to learn some Flemish as well)!

J ai d abord ecoute le deuxieme morceau hier soir et aujourd hui encore avec Paarden je suis epoustoufle, c est franchement tres tres bon, surtout pour une premiere chanson. Cela promet pour la suite et j ai hate d'entendre la prochaine creation. Je vais guetter cela de pres.

This is not a good song for a kid; this is a GREAT SONG period. I rarely listen to happy music (and I have little interest in horses), but this song is so deeply touching that there are literally tears in my eyes. Your daughter has a beautiful voice. She is dead on key but has a natural instinct for making things interesting with off-key trills and slides. I started making music when I was little, but I never wrote anything semi-decent until I was 17. Your daughter is a natural composer and singer.
