Pyret's Song

Description
Originally conceived on my Casio CTK-611, for the first time trying to use the multilayer split mode to get a more full musical experience, it was not enough. This was in 1999 at a time when we lost an unborn child that we called Pyret. I dedicated it to "him". Knowing I was going to forget the song unless I wrote some notes about it, I did that. But of course these notes were nowhere to find when years later I found out that even I could make some music on the Mac with Garageband. Only this summer, 2006, did I actually find those notes and I succeeded in "programming" the Casio so that the song could once again be played. It was soon translated into something rather different in Garageband. It is perhaps a bit less nostalgic. Pyret has somehow grown into a teenager playing the electric guitar...
The "jungle" sounds are inspired by the corner of our small garden that we also sort of dedicated to Pyret.
This is the latest contribution to my "album" Dreams in Cerulean Blue. I will post some more of it soon. I hope you enjoy it!

You finally arrived!
Such a long wait, but it was worth it. Thank you for sharing the touching
background story for the song. Very nice first post. There are some very
interesting parts in it that sound almost oriental. He's a wide-eyed happy
spirit, with lots of energy it seems. My only critique is that the bass-line
is a little too loud compared to the rest of the instruments, and because it
is so noticeable, it becomes a little bit repetitive near the end... I began
waiting for it to change to a different pattern, or have a different
instrument come in for a chorus. But that is fairly minor for such a major
accomplishment. And a nice photo too!

Thank you
so much, Drakonis, for guiding me into some of the mysteries of this great
music site and for commenting on my first musical entry!

Of course you are absolutely right about the bass-line! I just never thought of
it, but it might have added to the fact that I tried to keep it a bit short. More
change in that range would probably lessen the feeling of "boredom". (Sorry, I
am a little excited now so I can't find the words... :-)

I am not surprised either that YOU noticed this. Since you let me have a go at
your own great song Sometimes, I noticed that you had spent a lot of energy with
the "backgound" that I could hardly even distinguish/hear! I will email you
abot this soon!

Thanks again!

Kinda retro ...
But very nice - I enjoyed listening to it - a very touching story behind it
and a lot of work transferring the song I guess !
Thank you for sharing it with us !

Thank you RoB*-)
for listening and commenting. Actually, I don't count the hours while making
music. Since I know no music theory I just keep going until it sounds the way I
want it. But referring to Drakonis posting above I may have to add a couple of
extra hours on this one! (And probably on some of the others I have in store for
you... :-)
You had some pretty amazing stuff yourself, RoB*-)! Thanks for that!

Sweet tune
A very sweet tune, especially after knowing the background story. It is
so touching to hear how much feel you have for the little fellow still
after seven years. This tune conveys a lot.

Also: Welcome to MacJams! Rather nice to have you here my fellow-
countryman AND, as it showed after I followed your homepage link, my
fellow-student! We were studying psychology at the same university at
the same time (more than 20 years ago). Think I recognize your
name...

Will be interesting to hear more of your music!

Tack!
Thanks for listening to my humble musical experiments, for the kind comment
and even getting on the fan list! It means a lot to me!

Yes, it sure is strange how small the world can be at times! You listed quite a
few common friends at the Department of Psychology of old. Great fun! But 20
years?!?!? I still AM only 20 or.. at least.. like.. eh.. there abouts... :-)

And I do hope to post some more songs soon (one at a time, thanks!), but I
might have to go through the mixing one last time not to make a fool of myself
among all you great musicians out there..!

Thanks
for listening in on my old ones! This was my first posted song, but rather the latest I had recorded at the time. It keeps pretty well, though I think...:-)

Gee Dee!
What a comment! I'm blushing with pride... Thank you!

Sorry for the late answer, haven't been around that much lately.

I have recently opened the GB file for this song to see if I can enhance the bass-line towards the end (compare Drakonis comment above), but I just can't seem to get it right :-(
