Well...this is a fun little pop/rock tune I guess. It won't surprise anyone to learn that the lyrics were written in about 10 mins! This probably has more of a bass sound than usual for my stuff...anyway hope you enjoy it

A refreshing, breezy song to mark the end of the summer.
The instrumentation addition at the end is an inspired touch I wasn't
expecting.

like something I would write as well....maybe a collab???
I like the bass. The lead solo and the feelo...Good song

Good to be back and listen to your tunes again Stephen. This has a nice and happy sound. There are tons of songs of yours that i havent heard during my break, so I better go on listening to them as well! This song sounded great.

What a great song. This is really nice, Steve.

had a bit of a "Simple Minds" feel about this later on, I thought .. loved
all the rhythm/lead guitar work in particular, although the bass is
excellent too and added an solid, unobtrusive supporting role.

I liked your blend of having the clean crisp solo sound inter-leaved
with the more distorted lead sound - perhaps a little more call/answer
in places as a suggestion or starting one off as the other hasn't quite
finished when they are panned a bit left/right.

MIx wise - I thought the drums should come up a bit, they seemed to
disappear a bit after the start and the high-hats were left peeking
though.

Loved the "she don't use iChat late at night" line, stood out ... and
cool metaphor of 'sweeping leaves' and the summer of a relationship
ending and starting afresh ...

nice choice &mdash 09/11/06 - 02:35:39 PM
Love the chord progression. The guitar lead is cool and I liked the way it's layered at the end. The beat is a nice change from the ordinary with that laid back feel and the bass sounds quit complex. Very groovy and poppy feeling. Your voice sounds great!

KLRU should have this in their rotation! Sounds like a great car song to
me. Preferably a convertible with the wind blowing in your hair. Good
mix, nice smooth sound!

nicely mellow &mdash 09/26/06 - 01:35:51 PM
they don't make songs like this anymore! the lyrics are simple, laced with just a tad of melancholy - I can picture you walking along down the street, shuffling your feet through the first leaves of fall. The guitar is quite tasty! You've kept the drums nice and uncomplicated - and beautiful surprise at the end as the scope of the piece expands with the strings. Really nice job - I'd like to hear the music levels come up to greet your voice more - you've got a real natural vox that's quite pleasing to the ear and it seems a bit lonely way up above the backing tracks. Other than that - it's just short enough to warrant pushing "play" again. Thanks for posting this!
