Description
Another song from the archives. This one is about a woman torn between two men of differing temperaments, and wanting to stay with both. In those far-off days when I was writing songs to my guitar, this was one of my favorites. I hope you enjoy it.

REFRAIN:
He's a storm. Destructive in his force.
The other's warm. Sunny pleasure, he'd endorse.
And I am the rainbow, the rainbow that they made.
Yes I am the rainbow. Without them, I'd slowly fade.
Consider the mayfly who lives only a day
And if the weather was stormy, he'd sit on the windowpane
And his life would be a chill
Never straying from the sill
His pleasures unfulfilled
For this fly of May life would be a rainy day.
Consider the mayflies whose day is brimming with sun
The dryness and the heat would slow them one by one
And if the heat would spare the swarm
They could drone on through the warm
Never knowing of the storm
And with passion shunned, dreary lives would soon be done.
Now consider the mayfly whose day has pain'n'glow
He'd not partake of sunshine, forsaking rain'n'woe
Yet even with all of this
There'd yet be some to miss
If passion brought not bliss
To get the final gain, low and behold, you need a rainbow.
And I am that mayfly not willing to settle for less
I'll not give up his passion or the other's caress
For the rainbow's bred from fight
And consists of fragile light
Man's glimpse of heavenly sight
No, I won't take less, needing both men, I must confess.
