I want say... thanks so much jiguma!!

The first collaboration together...
Silver
Jiguma say:
“SIL-VER asked me out of the blue to add vocals to an amazing backing track he had – then he said that if I wanted to write a melody and lyrics, that would be OK. I saw this as a real honour. After I had finished the lyrics I saw on SIL-VER’s original mp3 that the “album name” he had there (“No One Is Alone “)matched my lyrics perfectly – quite uncanny really. I am very pleased with how this came out – SIL-VER wrings every ounce of dynamics out of his music, and this is no exception. The bass in this is astounding! Thanks to SIL-VER for asking me to contribute – I had a ball. Neil”

Lyrics:
Headful Of SmilesWho’s to say there’s no-one there?
It’s not impossible
Guess we’ll know if they appear
I’m just so quizzical
______________________
So what could have put us here?
Something wonderful
Something more than us for sure
That’s indisputable
Who’s to say we’ve got it right
We’re not infallible
Just look up sometime at night
The sky’s so beautiful
______________________
We lie awake at night
Look at the stars up in the sky
Can it be only you and I?
It’s beautiful
It’s so beautiful
We’re just a corner of the sky
The comet’s tail, a blinking eye
Can it be only you and I?
It’s beautiful
It’s so beautiful
I’ve got a head full of smiles
I can see for miles and miles
There’s so much more than you and I
It’s beautiful
Life’s so beautiful
Golden sun in open skies
Open your mind sometimes
Focal point beyond your eyes
There will be better times
Who’s to say there’s no-one there?
It’s debateable they say
Guess we’ll know if they appear
So metaphysical
We lie awake at night
Look at the stars up in the sky
Can it be only you and I?
It’s beautiful
It’s so beautiful
We’re just a corner of the sky
The comet’s tail, a blinking eye
Can it be only you and I?
It’s beautiful
It’s so beautiful

Incredible. This song is powerful and intimate at the same time.
Whispering declaration of life abounding in the universe. Echoes the
sentiments of the late Carl Sagan. This would have been a choice
addition to the soundtrack for the movie Contact.
jiguma
Richard, thanks for the comment -Silver's music track just inspired these
lyrics. The topic is something I've not pondered on for quite some years,
although I always lapped up extraterrestrial stories when I was younger. The
coalescence of Silver's album title and my lyrics was a real surprise!
Just trying out the new reply function . . . . . fingers crossed!

Parichayaka
Wow. I have to admit that I was absolutely blown away by this collaboration. Totally original, incredible energy, great lyrics and extraordinary vocal and musical performance. The kind of song you keep singing long after you listened to it. What struck me in particular is that fresh, creative approach to a genre which in my opinion has been overcrowded with mediocre, commercial energy over the last few years, making the song not only ready-for-radio, but also setting a real standard for songwriting and production. Amazing what you guys did in your home studios. The structure and execution of the musical backdrop shows tremdendous talent (I assume you're working on your new G5 monster, Sil-ver! The mix is crisp but with a full and powerful sound) and the rhythm of the singing blends perfectly with the music. Fav'd and downloaded.
jiguma
Thanks for the kind words Parichayaka. The depth and clarity of the track
Silver sent me (not to mention the sheer musicality of it) just amazed me.
Version 1 just about blew my 'phones with the incredibly tight bass/kick
sounds - fortunately for all he seems to have backed the bass off a bit in this
version. It was a real pleasure (and something of a surprise) for me to be
asked to sing on something like this - I could do this all day long : )
Peace,

GREAT work, both of you! Really love the lyrics and the vocal melody. You
know... I could totally hear a flamenco version of this.

Cheers Miss C - a flamenco version - I'd love to hear that!

Wonderful collaboration between you two, and while i must amidittedly
say this is not my genre of choice. I listened, and loved you originality.
The lyrics are wonderful: there is something in the meter that agrees with
me. it seems very harmonious. all in all, and i have very little experience
in saying so, but i feel you've got a hit

Doing a colab with Silver is definitely something special, and I appreciate
your comment. Silver's writing here seemed tailor made for my lyric style,
and was a joy to sing.

Peter Greenstone
Sil-Ver's music does seem to inspire lyrics based on cosmic and
metaphysical things. This is great! More melodic in nature than usual
but still distincly Sil-Ver. Jiguma, the lyrics are great and I love your
phrasing of the lines. Very cool.
I'm working on my part right now for one with Sil-Ver. Woohooo!
jiguma
Cheers Peter - have a ball with your colab! One of the best buzzes I've had
since I joined MJ.

Thanks so much my friends!!!!
Silver
The Composer
Never thought I'd hear Neil's husky Aussie voice on some sort of
electronica/& track... but low and behold here it is!
At first I didn't think I was going to like it that much... the virtual
instruments... and then I wasn't used to hearing Neil's voice in this
context... but when the chorus kicked in, everything just feel into place
and the rest of the song felt right to me... I was no longer expecting to
see an accompianing film clip with Neil girating in a bikini anymore... I
was just left to appreciate the music... and the Neil's singing... which
was quite.... lyrical.... which incidently is about the only rhyming word
you didn't use :P
Quizzical, indisputable, debateable and metaphysical were among my
favourite words in this :D
Tight tune guys... tight!
jiguma
Bryan, thanks for the comment - the only thing that has stopped me doing
something like this has been my inability to pull off the backing track. I was a
huge Yes/Genesis/Gentle Giant fan "back in the good old days", and really
enjoy electronica when it's done well (like datafunk's new one). The bikini
image is indescribable - it's so subliminal - it's just discernable - it's now
interminable - aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrgh!!!

Macaudion
And quite 'delightful' ---I don't normally read others comments because I just never have the time, but mostly, I don't want to be influenced by the words of other people's comments but this time, I read what the Composer was saying and it was almost exactly what I was feeling w/the exception of the Jiguma gyrating bikini image - That just didn't cross my mind in any way -
This was an 'incredible' collaboration - I mean really - It was like the synergy that was created w/ Silver's arrangement and Neil's writing and vox and whatever else he might have done on here was just meant to be - EXCELLENT Collaboration fellas! Well, if you're a lady Silver, please forgive my presumptions. And maybe that was you in the binkini... Hee hee - Thanks for the heads up Neil - Dion
jiguma
Dion, so good to see you back commenting here at MJ - thanks for your
thoughts on the last few as well. I'd love to get that perc track for the
revision of Guantanamo.
As I said earlier above, this was such a joy to do (and such a surprise to be
asked!). I don't think I'll forgive Bryan for that image though - for at least a
few moments. : )
Really looking forward to your first post!

Hey guys, so 'incredible'. Oh really, I dig this song for a million reasons: the composition has a very effective simplicity and honnesty. A production that is perfectly in balance. The singing melody lingers on in the listeners head for a veeeery long time, and that's a feature that is only given to top-notch vocalisers. For sure you are one of them, Neil. And wow these lyrics. 'We're just a corner of the sky' is certainly my favourite sentence... so tru. Your soft and warm voice contrasts astonishingly well with the beautifully structured backing track. A real surprise. Very tasteful use of the echo effect as well. More of this yummie stuff, boys!
Walter
jiguma
Thanks Walter, the lyrics came very quickly once I got on the right track -
they were actually based loosely on some lyrics I wrote when I was in my
twenties (nothing taken directly except "Focal point beyond your eyes", but
the same general idea) - this possibly accounts for the positive vibe (life
seemed so much more optimistic then). My fav line is "I've got a headful of
smiles" - it just came to me a week or so ago and I wrote it down, not
knowing how I'd use it.
Always appreciate you listening Walter - thanks,
Neil

drakonis
The Sil-VER backdrop is really unusual, but in a good way... it catches
your attention and does not let go. Very nice clear orchestration, crisp
as a brilliant Summer night. And Neil's singing and lyrics are really
dead-on for me, love the message... not preachy, but more like "stop
and appreciate all this"... right up my alley. The easy-going singing
style is compelling and also very nice to listen to, it works well here.
Mixing is well balanced, everything can be heard, perfect job guys! Uh,
I'm afraid I cannot think of any constructive criticism... oh wait, yes,
gotcha! On line 12 of your lyrics, you say "The sky's incredible" instead
of what you typed in the lyrics... I prefer what you sang though, so fix
the description :-).
ttfn,
Drakonis

The masters of collaborations and lyrics teaming up? It can only mean
good things are ahead, and I wasn't disappointed. Very pensive and
moody. The vocals and the music reflect each other so well. Beautiful
production. Loved it all the way around.

Was earth seeded with life by wayfarers from another Galaxy? Are there
other ways of looking at spirt than told in our religious texts? Might we
soon have a visit from one of the these far off planets, or maybe one just
next door? Questions brought on by looking at the infinity of
space....This song hints at it all...Congratulations on the intimation of
things to come....definitley a song for this time in humanity's
development....Digitalnirvana9/Norman

The crowd above is right, believe what they say, this is amazing! The
music, solid production, cool lyrics and singing... I liked every drop of
this song. And bringing it to space like that is a sure fire way to get
the interest of this stargazer. The telescope we have here gets some
good usage. This song is great, I love finding stuff like this here!
jiguma
Glad you liked it David - it was a relief to just sit back and let someone else
do the instrumentation for a change - especially not having to worry about
getting the drums right! We live on the coast five and a half hours by car
south of Sydney, 6 hours north of Melbourne and about 3 hours from
Canberra - we don't get any city luminescence at all, and when the moon's
out of sight on a winter night, the star view is truly something else. I
particularly enjoy the meteor shows some nights. A telescope would be very
handy indeed!
Cheers,

I dig it.
This is one of those songs that makes me understand what this site is

You guys did a great job. Well done.
I can't decide if this is right on, or if I want a faster and angrier version.
Can so totally see this as NIN song.
It's cool as it is, but a grungier darker version would be welcome.

Catchy tune as usual Sil-VER. Really rocking and Neil's voice fits well.
Dig the lyrics Neil. Spot on!

The song writing on this song is excellent. Great production.

I left a comment on this the other night...
Gentlemen, this really is something exceptional. The clarity and just-
off-the-beaten-timbres in the backing track are terrific. Not a note out
of place. Great groove. ALways a great drum sound and playing on a
Sil-VER track... Love those "are they guitar? are they harpsichord?"
tones, and I love that, even though the song is really full, there's also
plenty of space. The dynamics are great, and serve the song.
Finally, the lyrics from Neil are Bowie/Ziggy updated into the 00's, and
partake of some of the same qualities that I so admire in the work of
Peter Greenstone. And, even more finally, that is a really wonderful
vocal from Neil.
I'm always amazed when a synergistic and exciting collab such as this
pops up... I can't imagine how you did it... I'm so glad you did.
I voted and downloaded and stuff a few days ago...
Ed
jiguma
Thanks for the thoughtful comments Ed - the one re Peter G is taken as a
huge compliment - Peter is one of my favourites here at MJ (and in general
really). I've said it before, but being asked to do this by Silver was a real buzz
for me. I hope he let's me in on another sometime : ) His use of sounds and
especially drums is so good - I have no idea how he did this. Special thanks
for the vox comment - it's been a rather huge learning curve, but it makes
me feel like I'm getting somewhere in the vox department.

This is very dramatic, creepily intense (I mean that in a good way).
Great colab. Love the biting vocals, complex lyrics, and fascinating
soundscape. Wonderful!

Just great you both!!!
This is really unexpected when i read abuot your collab.
Well done!

One plus one is two.
However, it is worthy in this case of two or more.
Different charm always.
The effect of the sound is full.
Einarus
1. Paris Hilton making good music.
2. "Here you go, Einar - a million dollars."
3. Jiguma singing on an electronic track.
I guess I'll have to cross one of these things off my list.
And I'll do it gladly - this is a very nice piece of work.
Your voice really makes an interesting contrast to the mood and vibe of
the song but it really works! And the songwriting ain't shabby, either!
Sil-VER: The beat king!
