Description:
A girl asked me once, "how come you never write a song for me?'
Like a cathartic hairball, I finally coughed up this.
Jr has a chance to blow on this one, and he takes a lovely outro solo that makes the wait worth it.
Now apparently the Dixie Chicks have a song with the refrain line in it. Well almost, anyway. Like I care.... ( aren't I snotty? )
Lyrics:
I need you baby like I need a hole in the head,
I need you baby like I need another hole in my head
Hurricane Boomerang your mother was so un-kind
to hang that handle on you, child. Something wild, like a
Hurricane Boomerang kicking in my door again
I pick you up and dust you off at gunpoint oooooo what a girl
Her momma said she was no good. She's a nice girl, really, but not not a nice girl, really.
They made her queen, her mom, they did. Right out of a bad dream
She told a lie, upon a lie, and so on and so forth
Her momma cried and stamped her feet and she lead the parade
I'm her husband, I'm her doormat, I'm such a putz and she's my wife
I'm a fool as she steps up and she wipes her feet all over my life
Hurricane was beautiful, she was all girl times a million
Mine was deaf, dumb, and blind love
I jonesed for the cool breeze, and she would take me out at the knees
everytime. I loved my hurricane.

Go Team! &mdash 09/15/06 - 02:04:10 AM
Very cool Team! So much Steely Dan in this (I love the band), but with
your own distinctive sound. I guess I mean this is in the genre that
Donald Fagen inhabits a lot of the time - the direct comparison is a bit
crass :-)
As usual with your songs, the playing is so solid and tasty - love the
keys, drums, guitar and bass - and the production is as good as they
come. Love your laid back voice - man I wish I could do this sort of
stuff. Junior will be OK if he keeps practising ;-)

'Tis the season &mdash 09/15/06 - 08:31:01 AM
Killer guitar solo at the end, man. Such a great laid back groove, and
another wonderful vocal performance. Depressing lyrics, altho cleverly
conceived (after the intro), a fun twist on a theme, but depressing like
great blues. I smiled all the way. I dig the ending of your phrases, the
mix of the piano, all of it. Another killer track. [ Reply to This ]
The title &mdash 09/15/06 - 12:31:19 PM
captured my attention, since I am from Miami, hurricane magnet.Great
jazz inflected voicals, very emotional. Reminds me of Mark Murphy.

that I've always loved about you is all here... I see Jigma already jumped
on the Donald Fagen vibe... but you are all over it... this oozes soul and
as always humor... I'm sure she just loved it... are you still together???
this is killer and you handle a guitar like no one on MJ... a very destinct
voice

LOL. What a killer couplet. I normally don't bother paying attention to
lyrics, but yours are worth listening to.
Very fine music too. [ Reply to This ]
