Absolutely professional in every way &mdash 09/19/06 - 02:47:45 PM
You've assembled quite a cast here, Christian. Everyone a top player,
including yourself (I love the performance of both your percussion and
your flute tracks). Sandra's voice is delicious. Tonio's guitar playing is
masterful. The bass player is one of my favorite musicians.

The contained intensity of this song, its wonderful flow, the excellent
ensemble playing, the composition itself... all this adds up to
greatness. Were I in the booth for the mix I would have spoken up and
suggested the flute be panned more toward the center, given the fact
that it serves as the lead instrument at times. Were the suggestion not
implemented, it would hurt the song not one bit. This is so
professional and wonderful to listen to - it goes right to the iPod.

delight &mdash 09/19/06 - 04:39:49 PM
Thank you. yes The musicians have some of the best and sympathetic ears
around. I might remix the song with your suggestion, the flute track might
benefit from it. Thanks for listening and critique.

what a delight! &mdash 09/19/06 - 04:28:57 PM
This is a really gorgeous piece of music, really well performed... it has
that South American/Middle-eastern fusion sound that I associate with
"Strunz & Farrah" (I love their "Primal Magic" CD.) That flute following the
rapid guitar melody is beautiful and awe-inspiring at the same time (I
agree with Patrick that since it stands out, it would be better centered
though.) The singing was a perfect addition, superb bass of course, wow.
What an amazing bunch of talent here, thank you for sharing it with us!

Drakonis

As a percussionist I have become interested in rhythms from around the world
and their incorporation into music. I also happen to love Strunz and Farrahs
work. I am happy tou enjoyed the music!

I saw it in your eyes... &mdash 09/19/06 - 10:41:13 PM
When I first checked you out before you posted anything... Then it was
the clues left by your first choices as favorites - Which has nothing to
do w/ the inclusion of me - And then, it was the level of care in the
choosing of your words and how they were arranged... -

You are a master at your craft, sir - This is nothing short of something
nicer than my words could hope to capture.

So I'll just kick back and enjoy...

Thanks!

Dion

P.S. So who are you... Really...

Great! &mdash 09/19/06 - 11:49:29 PM
This is one of the smoothest mixes I've heard on macjams. Everything
is perfectly leveled out, there's no great peaks or falls, and the
musicianship is top notch. I love the guitar and flute work. This is a
wonderful track. Thanks for sharing!

:-) &mdash 09/20/06 - 01:07:04 AM
great musicianship and composition...reminds me a bit of the Gipsy Kings...you guys captured the spirit of flamenco nuevo

Those &mdash 09/21/06 - 02:32:11 PM
are some great musicians and fun to play with to. The nuovo flamenco sound is
still evolving and subject to much discussion and arguments, but then it does'nt
claim to be addiing to the tradition just using it as a source for new music and
new directions. Thanks for allowing the music to live.

there are those moments &mdash 09/21/06 - 06:36:58 PM
when i first hear a mj composition and am immediately awestruck by
the level of artistic creativity and professionalism with which is was
performed and recorded. This track certainly being the case. A truly
ensemble effort. Hats off to the engineer/producer as well. The vocal is
the icing on the musical cake. Sandra is a huge talent. McBoy as well
does a pretty good job with only 4 strings this time.

Tatin, like Futz said. This has all the earmarks of a professional.

Passion &mdash 09/24/06 - 08:27:30 AM
Thanks! Love of music brings people , musicians together. Passion makes them
give their best. I am so happy with the response to the composition. The
engineer is a professional of 6 months only, Douglas Wahlgren, graduate of the
sound engineering school of the local community college. He has great ears and
a magic touch and knows his protools inside out. Thanks for appreciating the
work.

Wow... &mdash 09/22/06 - 12:25:13 PM
This is a great track. Professionally produced and outstanding musicianship! Not always a fan of Nuovo Flamenco (like the traditional stuff) but this is a great fusion that breaks out of the mold.

Doesn't get much better! &mdash 09/23/06 - 08:31:50 PM
Guitar and flute wonderfully played, as is everything else. Mix is so
close to perfect that it would satisfy all but the most critical ears -
although Patrick and Eduard's comment about the flute placement
makes sense, only a slight centreing would do it. Beautiful vocals, and
excellent production.
There are sometimes songs here on MJ which you know would cut it in
the "real world", and this is definitely one of them.
Any band which has Mcboy on bass is worth the novelty value alone : )
Thanks - truly inspiring!
Neil

Funny...maybe ironic... &mdash 09/23/06 - 09:14:39 PM
...such a collaborative piece of music bearing the name 'soledad'...

To my ears, it balances perfectly on that line between the improvisational
and the composed. It has a nice "cool fire".

Into my iPod it goes...

Soledad &mdash 09/24/06 - 08:51:08 AM
Ironic , yes. But the feeling I wanted to convey was the sadness of returning to
aloneness, for whatever reason. May be leaving your lover, family, friends for
some reason or another. Lonliness can be so sad. The composition was
originally for flute but nice arranged and embellished by both Tonio and Mcboy.
Sandra and I also expanded the melody. Ironic how a group plays a composition
about lonliness.

and it was even more gorgeous! Fantastic flow and really tight production!

Seamless Beauty &mdash 09/24/06 - 12:49:01 AM
What an extraordinarily beautiful piece of music from a group of
musicians who are all obviously wonderful artists in their own rights. I
can see what Patrick is saying about the flute in spots, though, as a
casual listener, I don't think I would have noted it and, as he said, if
you didn't change a thing, the song would still be as perfectly beautiful
as it is right now.

The mood here is just lovely, very relaxed, yet happy, very celebratory
of life. Also, you have such a happy, happy profile picture. This song is
the embodiment of your smile.

Wonderful Artists. &mdash 09/24/06 - 08:54:10 AM
Yes a great group though not all are professional. Tonio and Sandra might be
called semi pro, they do perform at cafes occasionally. But thanks for
appreciating the passion and love for the music.

Shhhh. I have a friend who is a Digi rep. The firewire is just marvelous. No
hiccups recording to a 7200 rpm external hard drive. Douglas, our engineer
just loves it. I was happy with his mixing and recording effort.

one more comment &mdash 09/24/06 - 08:55:29 AM
after listening to the song again, I am struck by the fact that the vocals come in so late. I wish you gave us a bit of a taste earlier in the song. but that's really a minor critic. everything else is brilliant.

This is amazing music, top notch production values. Tonio's guitar is
georgous and Sandras vocal is superb. Infact all the instrumentation is
utterly flawless. Complex and sweet. The flute is like a second voice, and
more. Just perfect.
