Description:
A repost of this song with a better mix, I think.

Lyrics:
I remember how I used to stroll
aimlessly and wander in the fields
hours went by like minutes
when the sun set
it would catch me by surprise
You didn't need no reason
to climb a hill or cross a river
just because you can
as time would never end

and now you've got a woman
and a baby that you sing to
it's funny how the life
that you grow into over time
suddenly tricks you
with a lot of things to cling to
and a lot of things to lose

Do you remember how we played
guitar into the early morning
the birds would start to sing and you and I
would wonder what went wrong
We didn't need no reason
to play our tunes a thousand times again
because time would never end

and now you've got a woman
and a baby that you sing to
it's funny how the life
that grows on you over time
suddenly tricks you
with a lot of things to cling to
and a lot of things to lose

lyics and singing. You hold your notes well and sing with passion.
harmony parts are just right. The story telling is great. I have not heard
the previous mix so my critique would be on this one. The rough mix
gives it a homespun quality as far as production is concerned; this is just
an equipment issue. The recurring acoustic guitar part for my taste might
be a tad lower in the mix, a couple of hairs, not much, since it doesn't
really overwhelm the vocal. But in content and performance you have a
winner here and deserve high marks.

Thanks &mdash 09/23/06 - 06:50:55 AM
I am happy that you think that this tune is worthwhile. I think that you're right
about the guitar level - I originally mixed it on my headphone and had the
level down a little, but when I heard it over my speakers the guitar almost fell
away... I guess I then overreacted and put it down too far. Difficult stuff,
mixing ;-) Anyway, thanks for the kind words.

Hey, Denny, &mdash 09/26/06 - 09:08:11 PM
I really like this...

Did I hear this before?

I like the big, echoey reverb-laden space the acoustic guitar sits in...
And is it a twelve-string, or are you doubling it in spots with a high-
strung guitar? Sounds good anyway...

I think, with tatin, that I might either pull it back the tiniest bit relative
to the vocal, OR, I might pull the reverb back on the vocal so that it's
relatively dryer sound seems to bring it forward...maybe...

The lyrics are nice... the way the tune lopes along is infectious...and I
like your singing... Bet this would sound cool with an upright bass
thumping along behind it all...

Into the iPod she goes...

you're probably right &mdash 09/27/06 - 04:02:03 AM
about the vocal. I'll see if I can fix this; the reverb might indeed be a
little too heavy. I find it difficult to control the loudness of the vocal
because there's a lot of dynamics in it, even with compression it tends to
be too soft/hard in places. Also, I did the reverb on the master track
because the vocal tracks are already filled with compression/equalizing
effects, and this also causes the mix to be a little less clear than if the
reverb is separate on different tracks. Well, I guess I shouldn't be lazy
and give it another round of mixing. (About your not having seen this: I
posted a previous version but then deleted that after a day because I
wasn't happy about it; so you probably haven't heard it before). Anyway,
thanks for the input.
Bye

and about the guitar, &mdash 09/27/06 - 04:03:54 AM
it isn't a twelve string, but two guitars.
