love (937)crumbs (1)myths (1)scarecrow (2)straw (1)moon (34)glow (2)beggar (1)fate (6)twist (1) ()
Description:
Love gone bad. (I'm not sure this really fits the pop catagory but I couldn't think of anywhere else to place it.)

Lyrics:
CRUMBS OF LOVE

There’s no you, there’s no me;
we're like the itch of an amputee.
You were the fire in my veins
and like a moth in the dark
I fell in your flame.

I have kissed your cool lips,
wrestled with love inside your myths.
You made me burn but in the end
you left me curling like smoke,
lost in the wind

Baby, you are no good for me.
You think by now I would know.
I’m a scarecrow losing all of my straw;
a waning moon losing its glow.

Baby, you are no good for me.
Now, what was I thinking of?
You’ve left me a beggar wandering the streets
begging for the crumbs of love.

You twist a smile; a twist of fate.
A twist of the knife and a change of heart rate.
You left me a hollow man;
you left me wondering who the hell I am.

(chorus)

lyrics &mdash 09/22/06 - 08:48:41 PM
those lyrics alone make it great realy enjoyed this one I might have stayed
away from some of the loops you used but that is my own prejudgement.
anyway It was a great arrangement.

Yeah, I wrote and rewrote those lyrics until I was getting sick of 'em--so, I
appreciate your kind remarks. As for loops, I used some of Apple's drum loops
but the other instruments were all played by me, although I sometimes would
loop my own stuff. Really glad you enjoyed this.

Nice song &mdash 09/22/06 - 11:03:46 PM
reminds me of Neil Young, and thats a big plus, yet you have your own
nuances

Nuances? &mdash 09/23/06 - 11:24:19 AM
Nuances...is that like odd quirks? :-) Seriously, thanks for the Neil Young
comment.

Lyrics - great! &mdash 09/23/06 - 10:57:34 PM
Interesting instrumentation. I like the marimba. I'd personally go for a bit
more of a unison attack on the lead vocal lines, or pull one forward and
set the other one back a bit more with the other background vocals. Nice
piece.

Yeah, I'm a big fan of the marimba too. Glad you liked the song and thanks for
your suggestions. All the best, J2morrow

Dark pop &mdash 09/30/06 - 11:13:08 AM
Lovely instrumentation, and very crisp production.I thought the vocal in
the verse was a little too forceful (maybe it needs a lower harmony), but
not sure ... the chorus worked really well... need another few listens.

Great, visual lyrics, dark and twisted ... niiiiice.

Dark pop--I like that. What I think the vocal needs is another singer but I'm
stuck with the voice I have. Thanks for your comments on the lyrics; after
studying the lyrics on Idiot Savior, I take that as quite a compliment. All the
best, JT

"The Human Agenda" when I was younger and really became hooked on Fromm's
writings. Peace.

Light and bouncy opening. Memorable melody. Cool arrangement.
Very clear production and use of stereo space.

Thanks for stopping by for a listen. I was afraid when I posted this song that all
those breaks between each verse and chorus would get old but it sounded good
to me and the arrangement seems to have worked for all the listeners so far.
Glad you enjoyed it.

Yep. I hear... &mdash 10/07/06 - 08:14:28 AM
...once again the Neil Young phrasing... And a little of Ian Curtis in there,
too... Once again, a strong lyrical effort. The lyric uses a number of
metaphors, each well worked out... You could probably write a song
around each of 'em...If it was me, I might be inclined to concentrate on
the one that I've decided to make the centerpiece of the song (and the
hook)...in this case, the crumbs of love... I really love the instrumental
opening of this... I like the guitar tones you use, too.... Ed

Hey Ed &mdash 10/07/06 - 06:37:26 PM
Thanks again for listening and commenting. Very gracious of you. I have to
admit I'm not familiar with Ian Curtis and will have to check him out. Haven't
had any luck on iTunes, however. All the best.

Ian Curtis... &mdash 10/08/06 - 08:45:55 AM
...is the late singer for Joy Division... You might listen to their song 'Heart and
Soul' to catch the comparison...

Apart from the drums this is all you? &mdash 12/22/06 - 03:38:59 AM
Well I'm impressed. Bass, guitar, marimba, vox. You've got a lot going on. What else do you have in your musical arsenal?

Off to listen to more and find out.

Well, &mdash 01/15/07 - 12:53:18 PM
to tell the truth, I play a midi-keyboard which is where most of the instruments come from, so I'm not as talented as you might give me credit for. Thanks for listening.

"like the itch of an amputee."

jeez louise, it doesn't get much better than that!

this subtle piece gets better with every listen. i came across this from the 2006 MacJams Retrospective collection and have been fortunate to hear it several times already.

i was actually cleaning the kitchen the second time i heard it, and it got me to slow my pace down and clean more methodically. perhaps that says something about the mood of the piece of how i react to music when i'm in cleaning mode! hehe

musically, it moves like a Slinky down the stairs while the vocal works it's way throughout the sound. a fantastic tune and i'm glad i got to check it out! thank yoU!

Music to clean kitchens by...could that be a new genre?
Seriously, I really appreciate your comments and for listening to my song so many times. A song you want to listen to over and over is the ultimate praise in my view. So, thanks--that means a lot.

Like the progression. It's real progressive and is quite enjoyable to listen to. I check on reality which sometimes can be quite cruel. thanks for sharing.
