Waking up on a Sunday Morning

Description
To me this song is waking up on a Sunday morning with the sun sifting through orange(!) curtains in my boyhood room. As you may understand that must have been in the 70's... The artwork is a somewhat aged (thanks to iPhoto effects!) photo of the view from a point below the window in quiestion. The ruin in the background is the first cathedral of Sweden - but that was almost 1000 years ago...

The song seems to be in the 5/4-tempo which forced me to play all the instruments myself - no loops could be used!

Warning! There is quite a bit of "blipping" in this piece. The background textures are quite nice though :-)

This is supposed to be the intro to my "album" Dreams in Cerulean Blue.

Super ..
.. Mario .. lol .. couldn't resist. Very good Henke och Välkommen till MJs ..
nice little melody - I like this soundscape reminiscing .. have you
considered using 'sound effects' .. to help things along ..
some birdies tweeting, a 'yawn' perhaps .. curtains being drawn ..
alarm clock ringing etc ..

I'd like the bleeping melody but wanted it to be mixed away into
another more 'grown up' sound around the half way point ..

5/4 eh? Blimey ..

Eller hur...
(Isn't it?!) Thanks for nice comments! Actually I do like fx sounds in my songs.
This was one of my first songs in GB and I am so used to hearing it this way that
I suppose I hear all that anyway. But I think I will try another instrument half-way
in as you suggest. Just to see what happens...

Hehee
I tried to remix it according to Alans suggestions. It was quite fun! A little bird,
a development in the blipping instrument suggesting a more and more wakeful
state of mind, some children playing in the "next room", a few big yawns. You
get the picture... Maybe I will post it later..

8 bit orange world
Oh my, you had orange curtains, and I had orange shag rug. I thought
the horrible "dark green and orange" 70s phase was just contained in
the USA... I'm sorry to hear it infected Sweden too! This was "cute",
and it did remind me a lot of childhood Atari computer games, and
days at the arcades. The 5/4 beat was unusual, and gave it a "hiccup"
quality that was playful and light-hearted. Overall, it was a little too
"computer-beepy" for me, I like more richness and morphing textures
in my synthesizers. Oh, and that ruined cathedral? I know what you're
thinking, but I swear, this dragon had absolutely nothing to do with
it... I was down in South America at the time, just ask the Toltecs!

I really can't remember
why on earth I chose 5/4 tempo. Probably just to change the presets in some
way, or even just hitting the 5 instead of 4 by mistake when entering a possible
value. Well, done is done, even if well done is better :-)

(Tired? Me? No...!!)

Thanks
for listening and commenting. Glad you liked it. I have a remixed version round the corner, but I'am resting it for a while to see if it still works. I'll probably post it then... Got any more time for your own music? You have some nice things going, I think.

Hehe
yeah I see what you mean, it is a kind of light-weighty thing, even if the bass-line helps a bit and maybe those bells as well. Thanks for listening and commenting! I'll go check out your stuff...

Thanks H!
That was a kind thing to say!

Actually I have a later version of this one. Not the best version though - I must have deleted that by mistake (at least the original, I think I've got an mp3 left). But there are some sound fxs on it and a development in the main instrument that suggests a wakening state of mind. It is noticeably less Super Mario too. The yawnings are made in the evening, however, and it turns out that actually sounds different than morning yawns! Could you believe that?! I guess that's why I haven't posted it...

I appreciate your comments a lot. Thanks again!

I went to music class at a fairly early age but I guess I was never really that interested. I played the recorder for starters and then the flute and then for some reason the trombone! I also played in a renaissance ensamble, in long brown ve... [see more]
