Description
This is my first classical piece- I thought I'd try something different. Composing this was a long process, since every loop in here was edited; in fact, practically every note was edited. Many thanks to Drakonis for listening and helping with the tweaking. I hope you like it. :-)

You nailed Whimsy!
This is quite delightful, playful, and downright professional-sounding!
This is a whole different style for you, and you pulled it off really well!
The piece starts off slowly, in a sort of disjointed way, and then the
piano comes in and pulls the rest of the orchestra along, getting them
all to march along. Nice pacing, thoughtfully orchestrated (I like the
way you handed parts of the melody off to different instruments here
and there.) You carefully separated the instruments out to left/right so
they were clear... the ending was perfect... um... I can't think of much
to critique, except that I better study some more, you'll soon be way
ahead of me!
ttfn,
Drakonis

Coming from you, that is quite a compliment. I don't know what else to say-
I'm overwhelmed! :-)

Amazing
This is beautiful. I really like the tubular bells and the piano is
magnificent. If this were played with a real orchestra I'd be in heaven.
Truly great work. If you used loops I couldn't tell. Thanks for sharing

Impressive
just caught this on pimp from Drak . before I went to bed .. it was
just perfect .. ty very much for posting... that's it .. I'm getting JP4! lol
Only improvement I could think of was the bit starting at 2:53 sounded
a bit clumsy, piano and rest didn't seem quite in step with each other ..
perhaps that was the intention.

Kudos.

2.53
Thank you. :-) Let's just say whatever happened at 2.53 was on purpose,
because I can't edit another loop for at least...2 days. <G>This was my first
try at using JP4, and i'm hooked. Thank you for listening. :-)

Another impressed Swede
You really seem to have that whimsyness under complete control!
Especially like the trumpet sounds. I guess that is JP4, or else I don't know
what I do wrong with the GB3 horn instruments...

Well done!

Faved and downloaded!
I kinda thought you'd like JP4. :-) I like how you used the trumpets. This is
a real treat with headphones.

So, when are you starting to write your first symphony? :-)

God bless,

Rick

Symphony?
Thank you, Rick, but if composing a 3.21 minute piece took me weeks, a
symphony would take years. <G> I'm glad you liked this.:-)

And now...Heavenly Doorbells.
Wow! What a departure...and what a lovely and interesting piece. This is
an impressive piece of work Rox. Peaceful. Joyful. Lightly stimulating. You
took a real risk venturing so far from your comfort zone, but it really
payed off.

Be well!
Roxylee said 3984 days ago (September 26th, 2006)
Thanks, Mike
Well, I found JamPacks for a fraction of the cost on eBay and figured I should
actually try them out. <G> This was a fun first experiment with orchestra
instruments. I'm glad you liked it. :-)

Thanks, but...
No way am I way ahead of Drakonis, if that's who you meant. :-) His
compositions have perfect timing, every note is impeccably placed. My first
orchestral effort could use a lot more fine tuning, but I didn't want to keep
messing with it. But thank you for the kind comment. :-)

Lovely work Roxylee. Your first classical piece eh - don't stop now!! I
have very little experience of classical music, but I'm glad I followed
Drak's directions to this. Must have been fun for you to do - and what
a sense of achievement!

Sweet and precious music...
just like the composer. I really like the light and airy feel of this piece
of music. Bravo sister! You've got a lot of music in that soul and heart
of yours just starting to come out...

Ohhh...
Thank you for such kind words, my brother. I'm glad you liked this. I always
have music in my head, and sometimes I can express what I am feeling with
the notes. There is still much for me to learn about GarageBand, but I'm
learning, step by step. And getting to communicate with great musicians like
yyourself makes it even more worthwhile. :-)

Whimsy
From reading all the comments you've gotten, it looks like you have a lot of great virtual friends here!... I am absolutely new to macjams.com, this being my first day here. ...
But I wanted to add my 2 cents: You've chosen the perfect title for a tiny gem of a piece. I imagined toy instruments playing late at night when no one was around...and having a good time doing so. I certainly enjoyed MYSELF. I don't know what else you've written, but I will take a look around the site. (And I agree: ain't GB wonderful. Finally, software for the rest of us!) ... Thanks for your whimsy.

Whimsy!
Did you intend "Pop Goes The Weasel?" ... well, I heard it and smiled. ... This whole piece is so interesting. It started off sounding like a church hymn with organ and brass...and then just kept getting better with the addition of counterpoint and your very original orchestration. I really enjoyed this and hope you will compose more "classical" numbers. This is a really refreshing piece.

It just happened
Hi, Paul. :-) I didn't have anything in mind; I just started penciling in notes and this is what happened. I don't know enough about composing to have a plan and structure it accordingly- i just put down what sounds good to me and hope for the best. <G> I'm glad you enjoyed it, and thank you for encouraging me to write more classical pieces. I love trying this, and having GarageBand makes it all possible.
