A song James Reidy and I put together on a drunkin night after suckin down cocktails at The Limp Lizard. Drinkin does pay off my friends and this is the altered interplanetary jam state we were in. Smokin drinkin and layin down some smooth jazz, Cover art by Dr. Bizarre aka Millustrations. Comments are much appreciated.

I particularly like the changes in guitar effects and tone throughout...
keeps the sound changing just enough...

or whatever you were having... yup, this is a fun leisurely piece of laid-
back music. The organ had a little too much chorused vibrato, sounded
really cheesy (there's your cheese), but maybe that was part of the
atmosphere :-) Nice guitar playing, gave a nice 4/4 lope, and yes, there
was a chunk of melody I could bite into, so I liked it ;-)

Quite relaxed and chilled this one. Guitar playing was cool and the
organ and bass weren't too shabby either. The mix could've been
smoother though... with a fatter bass... not so much treble in the
synths.... and a 'closer' feel to drumkits perhaps (thats probably not in
your control using loops and all)... I'm thinking more a quiet jazz three
piece in a small lounge (oddly enough) while this mix sounds a little
more like its comming out of the inhouse speakers at a supermarket...
well thats a little exaggerated, but you'd get my drift. The only other
thing I can think about is that it'd be nice if this piece branched out
into a few more chord patterns... some sort of keychange or something
because the pattern gets a little repetitive even though your guitar
playing doesn't. Nice work eitherway, now sleep it off. :) [ Reply to This ]

To be honest, I'm not the biggest fan of smooth jazz, but I could see
putting this on at the end of a party when everyone's feeling a bit
sleepy.

it certainly was. Instantly appealing blend, put together very well for a
drunken night. I also particularily liked the percussion which played an
unobtrusive but important role in the overall feel. The straight keyboard
chords just before the halfway point gave an almost Charlie's Angels
original series kindof 70's touch, which was cool I thought.. and lounge
lizardy ..
small gripe: the solo - although I liked what you played, the combination
of the highly distorted sound and the perhaps overly frequent quick
release slide ups didn't work for me - the overdrive made these typically
quick 'whoops' a bit too prominent for my tastes. [ Reply to This ]

Well, Ed said I should use "smooth" - some great playing here in a very
accessible format. You are constantly surprising Biz - this starts off
like some sort of TV theme then gets all howling guitar over some
lovely smooth chords. Very nicely done - like it.

I really like the guitar. Languid, mellow, sexy. Yep, does the smooth

I think it could use another change of some kind. Very tasteful guitar playing and I like the guitar tones a lot. The distorted tone is very digital, but it really works here. Nice use of string slides and hammerons. My only problem is that at some points the keyboards sound a little bit too "love boat for me". [ Reply to This ]

you 2 might have failed the breath test, but sounds like you can musically walk a straight line in a good edgy way here in your pseudo-stupor. i like the stabbing organ. nice bass. guitar got in some great roller coaster zips up n down its world. nice feel to this, guys - not a dull moment to be found. enjoyed the listen, anne [ Reply to This ]
