Very funky cool man. Its funny how we use these sounds from GB and we
make them our own. Killer jam. I love the space between notes here.
Groove baby Groove.. I'm D/L it.

Dark &mdash 09/30/06 - 02:08:26 PM
very dark indeed. I had to keep looking behind me during this song to
make sure there wasn't someone standing over me. Love that sci-fi
thriller sound in this, very tense. Nice work

Mars? &mdash 09/30/06 - 02:09:09 PM
... the 'dark' made me think of a soundtrack to a scene where some
futuristic hero/flat foot/detective is edging their way cautiously
through some alley-ways in gangland central ..perhaps also the
repeated 'lead' keyboard riff theme and beats headed me off in that
direction ..

I only really noticed the spacey laser beam sounds and 'in a space suit
helmet breathing' at the start and a bit after the 3/4 mark and what I
guessed was the landing jets and door opening at the end??

Having said that - I thought it was great! Just the right balance, mix
was sweet and overall fine composition and very clever use of sounds.
Good JoB*-) .. er LoB*-)

I felt like I was really goin somewhere when I listened to this. You
created a great atmosphere, benevolent and strange. The production is
great. This really sounds like it belongs on the intro credits to a sci fi
movie or something. Great job!

alien genre &mdash 09/30/06 - 03:41:34 PM
OK, I can't even try to suggest a genre for this, trippy-alien-spy-der
music. You have a gift for keeping things moving along, repeating
things to give a sense of recognition and patterns, and keeping things
clear and sparse so it is not cluttered and muddy. Really nice choices, I
like it. You can take OFF the explicit tag on this music, because there
was nothing adult about it, except possibly the alien spider creatures
crawling around in my space suit now. Speaking of which, this did
remind me a little of a movie soundtrack, and one of my favorite alien/
western/detective/thriller shoot-em-up sci-fi movies was "Outland"...
good old Sean Connery! This would do well in that movie. Anyway,
nicely done! I liked the faux-ending, then the real ending with the
nightmare creature cutting through the final protective blast-door...
but no scream? Oh, that's right... "In space, nobody can hear you
scream."
ttfn,
Drakonis

One small step for Rob... &mdash 09/30/06 - 04:21:50 PM
...one giant leap for psychedelia! I picture the rocks scattered over the red
and barren Mars-scape bopping up and down to the beat. Mix is both
dark and clean. If only you had lyrics and a vox!

Be well!

Unusual combos &mdash 10/02/06 - 09:27:18 PM
Some unusual combinations of sounds here that are interesting and
unexpected. Some of the sounds are what would be expected from a
space piece but some of the percussion sounds are not and that in
itself is interesting.
Especially appealing synth sounds on the bass.
Good stuff.

Echt gut! &mdash 10/03/06 - 03:01:17 AM
Very laid back vibe to me, with an edge! Nice use of loops Rob - lots
of good ideas in here - Drak's image of spiders in the space suit has
unnerved me a bit though - I just have to go and check that all my
doors are locked : )
Echt gut!

I'm trying to figure out the difference between ambient, trip hop and downtempo. Does anyone really know the difference?

Hi Rob. I'm bothering you again before I go to bed to listen to some of your wonderful music. Headphones do your music much more justice than silly powerbook speakers.

Once again, enjoy every intricate detail you place in your songs. I see you're a details man. ;-)

Thank you very much for listening Linda ! &mdash 11/29/06 - 11:44:02 AM
Downtempo music (or DownTempo or down tempo or downbeat) is an umbrella term for a laid-back electronic music style slower than house music (less than 118 beats per minute, possibly beatless) but separate from ambient music. This can encompass specific genres such as lounge music, chill out, trip-hop, or acid jazz. It is usually intended more for relaxing and socializing than dancing, though some releases are produced for the dance floor ...

(Taken from http://www.macjams.com/genre/ where you will find more explanations and links to Wikipedia.)

You are not bothering me at all :)
And of course good headphones or appropriate speakers are always better for satisfying music listening :D

Thank you for your compliments.
