Strings indeed! &mdash 09/30/06 - 10:26:15 PM
You are so blessed to play with such great players! Excellent composition,
and I feel like the strings are such a great addition to this groove,
something unique to my ear. Love the break! Coulda used more flute, but
what's there is very tasty!

That flute &mdash 10/01/06 - 04:04:19 PM
is really great. Good bass player as well. This is a tight groove, very
well played by everyone. Indeed, an original idea, to put strings in
these things.
Best

while with a cabinet maker from Puerto rico, who played all kinds of

Yeah ,this music will make you feel like moving your legs and spinning around.
This really is typical slasa dance music with a twist and a jazz sensibiltiy.
Thanks!

Oh sure, it's LATIN, all right... &mdash 10/01/06 - 06:09:07 PM
...but there is some kind of global passion in this thing...

Those strings have a real Django/Stefan Grappelli gypsy wildness at
times, as do some of the other instruments...

Right from that PERFECT bass line, all the way on through, it's got
everything...The beat's right on, the playing has spirit and fire... AND, you
do a nice job recording these pieces of yours...

Global passion &mdash 10/02/06 - 08:18:49 AM
Thats about right . A passion for music and a thirst to create, thats what keeps
me going. Yeah the spirit of grappelli and django lives! Thanks for appreciating
the music!

Perfect bassline alright! &mdash 10/01/06 - 07:01:28 PM
Using live strings and brass in this context is something I haven't
heard before, and it took me a little time to get into it (like about 2
seconds!). Excellent playing all round on a very classy piece of music.
Is it just me, or is the music getting better here at MJ??
Thanks for this Tatin!

Bassline &mdash 10/02/06 - 08:21:55 AM
Thats Jerry "wahwah" Rivera a veteren of hundreds of recordings since he was a
teenager. There is a style of music called "Charanga" that uses strings and flute
and brass . It was a source of inspiration. I 'm truly happy that you enjoyed this
music!

nice swing &mdash 10/03/06 - 02:03:08 AM
usually not a huge fan of orchestral ensembles for jazz music because the spontaneity and a certain degree of improvisation seem to get diluted or lost in the larger ensembles...i guess i prefer the intimacy and the interaction of the typical jazz trio or quartet arrangements...cool grooves on the bass, flute, piano, and percussion...i guess i like free jazz with no strings attached, except for the ones on the guitar and bass of course

Woah this moves, beautiful composition. I love the break to calm, then picked back up with the kicker pace. Great accentuation on the brass.

Very tight group. Great work on the flute and percussions. Your flute
really stands out. Everyone on this track is incredible. I don't often
download jazz but I certainly downloaded this.

tall women in slinky dresses get ready to pull the trigger on their
unwitting target....he finds out when it's too late and when he does find
out?? well....they done their job so well that he loves them for every bullet
that takes him down....such a sweet kill.....just as this song is sweet and
killer all in one single shot....keep the great tracks coming.....peace

Manic &mdash 10/30/06 - 07:53:11 PM
An amazing track which gallops along at an incredible pace - brilliantly performed by all - that string line is quite unusual in this style of music (gives it a bit of a Michael Nyman feel). Hot bass playing and a gorgeous flute line to boot.

Thanks for posting

More than the Sum of its Parts &mdash 11/04/06 - 10:31:04 PM
Wonderful integration of the strings, percussion and brass/winds within a flashy Latin context. I also hear the inspiration of Herbie Mann and Jean-Luc Ponty, much to my pleasure. Thank you for a refreshing lift of spirit.
