Description:
Often I don't know what to do with these little short themes that pops out of the guitar. Too small to make for a complete tune. Yet no complementing parts are popping. And I don't force any.

Some of them interests me though. So instead of having them lying in the drawer I have decided to try to be more disciplined and upload them on MacJams.

About the name: At first I had in mind "Use This Too", but just before posting I began to feel that was too harsh. The tune feels more like little flowers to me — like the personal favourite Forget-me-not — so that's it.

Maybe you want to give it a try using it for a collab song or anything like? If so; mail me and I can send you the full quality sound file.

Otherwise just enjoy. For a change this is a short tune.

Sweetness &mdash 10/02/06 - 08:58:51 AM
I love the odd melancholy notes and chords that creep in from time to time underneath the bright and upbeat tune.

As always your guitar pieces are heartfelt and mesmerising, whether they are "complete" pieces or just fragments. So yes, do please keep posting them. It's such a delight to hear you play.

Perfection! &mdash 10/02/06 - 09:42:27 AM
I love little interludes like this and think they make perfect tiny songs. I'm
not so good at short pieces and I think it's really a talent to come up with
them. By all means keep posting them! And I like the title too!

your own personal touch . Very nice rendition. I always loved that piece.

Beautiful Tune &mdash 10/02/06 - 11:16:08 AM
And plenty long! The title fits the music...like the summer sun on Forget-me-nots...and also a little sentimental like a wish to a loved one.

Beautiful playing and writing as usual - the odd melancholy note is a
part of your style which I love. Your guitar sounds as warm as ever.
Hey Curry, summer's here and that residency at the beach cafe is still

OK Neil. First I am just, in some mysterious way, gonna produce a hit so I can
buy the flight ticket. Then you can immedeately prepare the beach cafe that the
odd melancholy guitar player is on its way.

I've used up all my superlatives on your other songs! &mdash 10/02/06 - 07:43:48 PM
You would have to know the significance of the forget-me-not for me
and Karen to know how this is getting me right in the heart...

It's so completely songlike that I swear I can almost hear words to it.
The guitar phrasing is human and vocal and haunting... The playing
and recording together are clear, full-bodied, altogether about as well
as a guitar can be recorded.

If I can get brave enough, I would love to try to write some words for it.

There's a great passage in the book 'Clapton's Guitar' wherein they are
discussing how to become a better guitarmaker...the answer ends up
being, "Become a better person..." I think something like that can be
said in response to the question, how do you become a better guitar
player? ...."Become a better, deeper, wiser person..."

This, to me, is perfect.

If you say music like these sprout in your mind every now and then, it's
good to know that you gather them like tasty crop for us to feast on.
you have consistently written and played some of the most melodious
and heart-rending guitar pieces here at Macjams. You defiinitely have

These tones sound so wonderful in my ears! They are like therapy. Your guitar sound is absolutely amazing, as well as your playing. It reminds me a bit of some arrangements by the norwegian Musician Lars Martin Myhre. I will listen to this song everytime i feel my heart and mind need a bit of harmony, which is quite often :D! Thank you for this wonderful song!

Since I've been away from MJ for some time I have a lot too catch up on...
This is VERY good. I've heard many of your songs previously, this one is
so "simple" and clean, it goes right into your heart. Like someone said
above, he haid to pick up his guitar and start playing to your tune. I had
to sing, since words where just brough forward to me. Leonard Cohen
came in mind. But more so, this song, with it's title - brough me back
over the seas in a magic (and kind of sad way). I have big b-day coming
up, and for some reason the song reminded me of who I am am, and
where I am from and how fast the years passes by. Very beautiful! /M

thoughts from the bull... &mdash 01/18/07 - 11:54:58 PM
i discovered this piece in the 2006 MacJams Retrospective collection and it's obvious why it was chosen. simply stunning guitarwork. in fact, this is the kind of song that inspires me to learn to play better.

like Rebsie and James said above, it is a mesmerising interlude that i wish could be played across the sky during the crazy parts of a day. i'm sure folks would slow down, be nicer to one another, and stop to notice the beauty in the world if they could hear this.

well, maybe not the lawyers, but that's another thing altogether! hehe

seriously, this is just a stunning piece and i'm both happy and joyed to have discovered it. thank you!
