Another cool track! &mdash 10/02/06 - 01:45:03 PM
Very nice! For me, this is right up there with your "She Comes in Black"
song. I like how this song starts out- really sets the mood. The only thing
that sounded odd to me was the two places where you have a few minor
notes thrown in. It didn't sound quite right to me- but you have to
remember I'm still learning how to play piano. The mix sounds great as
usual. Very cool for sure! [ Reply to This ]

Hey! Glad you liked it! The two spots where the notes "clash" was put in there on
purpose. :P I know.....It sounds odd, but the word cacophony, refers to sound
that is harsh and unpleasant-sounding. Kind of weird, but I thought I'd thow this
one out there. Thanks so much for stopping by, Mike! Much appreciated! Talk to
ya' later, my friend! Take care!

You have to look into your dictionary !-) &mdash 10/02/06 - 02:24:19 PM
This beautiful tune is no cacophony at all :D
I liked the kind of dark mood and the way you evolve the melody.
(I wish I could do it like that :)) [ Reply to This ]

Consonant-al drift... &mdash 10/02/06 - 04:23:21 PM
Yes, there's a little bit of dissonance in there, or at least unexpected
chords, bute they are well placed and appropriate, and overall this siren
sings and calls like the darkwave diva I adore. Really tastefully placed
percussion, your typical longing music. Too much melodic structure and
percussive beat to be ambient, but MJ still doesn't have "darkwave" genre
(which this is closest to), so ambient is OK for now :-) No real critiques,
other than a good twisted/broken love tale draped over this would be
even better. Hmm...
Nice nice work, you have much talent here!

Dark Wave Diva! &mdash 10/02/06 - 05:09:58 PM
Hey, Drak! What do you think of me changing my name here at MacJams to
Dark Wave Diva? Catchy! Hmmmmm...... Anyway, thanks so much for
stopping by to have a listen at my latest track. I wasn't sure if I should leave it
the way it was or make it disonent. I chose the latter. I'm still not sure about
it though. It does have a longing feel to it. Much like my mood has been
lately. :-( But on a more positive note; this was a fun track to write. I got
stumped at the 45 second mark.....I had started this last night and finished it
up this morning. At least I got all of the major stuff done before I passed out
and forgot my ideas. :-P Which often happens. So......does this one get 5 out
of 5 Luxx's? Hehe! Take care Drak and I'll talk to you soon! Peace, my friend!

Gimmie good Luxx! &mdash 10/02/06 - 05:29:24 PM
I completely forgot about the luxxes, I'm so "dim" lately, and they were burning
a hole (note) in my pocket even! "Hear" you go, 5-5 Luxxes! Yes, this one gets
downloaded to my iLuxxomaticon! And a teeny bit of dissonance goes a long
way, I don't think you need it here, the strange chord progression is good
enough fo me... but then, I'm still recovering from my daughter's screamo-punk
music this weekend, so I needed these strong harmonic washes of dark beauty,
thanks!

Haha! Thanks Drak! I'll keep trying to crank out more dark stuff to help you
recover. ;-) If you'd like, I can send you a non-dissonant version, just to see
which one you fancy better. Take care Drak and thanks for all the Luxxs!

No jarring electronica here! &mdash 10/02/06 - 04:43:21 PM
The title made me expect some jarring electronic experience, but
instead there's this warm, melodic and thoughtful piece - in fact I
found it very positive and uplifting (except for the odd dark melody
line here and there and the minor notes already mentioned, which
worked well to bring the mind back to listening). I can see this as a
soundtrack piece for a wide range of movies - very nicely done!

No jarring - Guaranteed! :-) &mdash 10/02/06 - 05:15:55 PM
Hello jiguma! Thanks so much for your wonderful comments on this track. Like I
told Drak; I'm still not sure if I want to keep the disonant notes in there or not. It
hit me in a good way at first, but now listening to it several times, it makes me
cringe in anticipation, because I know it's coming. Weird, I know..... but I do.
Thanks again for your thoughtful comments, Neil! Take care! Peace!

with ambience to spare. Love the choice of sounds. Deeply melodic
with a wonderful percussive cadence. The synth sounds are freakin
great. Are they soft synth sounds? the whole piece seems to dance and
swirl in my imagination. I see planetarium credits here. awesome [ Reply to This ]

I didn't fully answer you. The sounds are indeed soft synth sounds. I used a
combination of GarageBand 3, Albino 3 and Octopus sounds. You can download
the demo versions of Albino and Octopus. Thanks again! Take care! Peace!

Floating in Time &mdash 10/02/06 - 09:17:13 PM
This song reminds my of a ride on a magical dragon through the travels of space and time. I liked how it seems to weave in and out. I am studying keyboard on my own right now, can/t wait until I can wip up a tune like this in one day. Good stuff man. _K2 [ Reply to This ]
Space & Time.... &mdash 10/02/06 - 09:54:40 PM
Thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed it! I really know nothing about music, to
be honest with you. I took piano lessons for about a month when I was about
11 years old, and my teacher said I was wasting my time. Well, at the time, I
felt like I was wasting my time too, because I didnt want to keep playing the
kiddy tunes forever. I just pluck around on the keys and layer sounds until
they sound good to my ear. I guess I have always had a certain knack for
being able to get by not knowing much about music. I dont think my music
would be what it is, if I knew a lot about how to do things. I kind of do the
musical version of the "hunt-and-peck" method of typing. :-) Crazy, I know,
but I manage to crank things out. I imagine if I had more musical background
and knowledge, I wouldn't hit the crazy road-blocks I seem to encounter
frequently. Good luck on your keys and take care! Thanks for stopping by and
your comments are greatly appreciated! Thank you! Peace!

Hello Tobin! I'm glad you stopped by. The image above, I actually got off the
web. It was a pretty discoloured and grainy picture to start off with, but I
dropped it in PhotoShop and made some "artistic" adjustments. If I remember
correctly, it was something that someone had posted on flikr. I just did a search
for broken pianos. :P Crazy, but this came up. As far as the resolution goes, it
was pretty small and very low res. I'm thinking the original was approx. 5 x 7???
Anyway, I'm glad you liked it! Take care, Tobin! Peace! Thanks for being a fan
too! :-)

Beats me why you called this "cacophony". It's a quite pleasant sounding
and relaxing tune. Simple chords, and pretty sounds over them.
Understated rhyhtm; altogether quite enjoyable. -- Victor. [ Reply to This ]

Title fitting?! &mdash 11/15/06 - 11:49:44 AM
I don't think this is a cacophony at all. The sounds blend well, so I don't see--hear rather, a disaggrement in the sounds. Perhaps you were being too hard on yourself at the time. Nice job. [ Reply to This ]
