  • Felice

  • but you might hate these slightly less:

  • Forgotten

  • Drive

  • Brownsville Moan (Gudkarma Collab)

  • The Journey

    Great playing! &mdash 07/20/04 - 12:09:46 AM
Really high marks on this one... I thought I was
listening to a real piano, it sounds so alive!

    Very nice piano &mdash 07/20/04 - 02:20:04 AM
Liked the soloing and the slow, descending sections VERY
much. The straight four in the left hand seemed slightly
hesitant. Maybe if you quantised the bass it might tighten
it up a bit? Or some drums perhaps?

BUT, this is a MINOR gripe, the level of playing was
impressive and overall I really liked the piece a lot.

    Very good. Any more?

    Nice and Pure &mdash 07/20/04 - 08:38:18 AM
I agree, the playing and sounds are all wonderful.
Sounds nice and live. True there are a couple notes
that could be fixed up easily, but they add to the
    perceived reality of the piece.

This is an interesting point. I agree regarding the missed notes adding to the
reality. Fact is I recorded this in real-time, with virtually no post editing. I
intend to completely re-record it to take care of two problems I see with it:
dynamics and timing. That will give it a tighter feel that I think will have a
    dramatic impact.

    great piano touch &mdash 07/20/04 - 10:41:00 AM
I greatly enjoyed the LIVE aspect of your piano
performance -- very natural and free. So what if you
lightly "fluffed" (and that's even too strong a word) a
couple notes? You're human....It added to the spontaneity
of this track rather than detracted.

Very nice structure of the piece, with recurring theme to
unify it, and an interesting sort of free-form "cadenza"
    middle section.

I wouldn't do too much else to this piece except perhaps
tighten up the bass/rhythm track a bit.

    Bravo!

    great piano touch &mdash 07/21/04 - 08:37:50 AM
Cameron, I agree wholeheartedly with your comments. I did completely re-
record and repost this song with tighter time in both the piano and bass, but
without any post-performance editing, except to change the octave on the
very last note. I'm working with a 61 key controller, which makes it a little
tough. I love that bass sound and added some fiddling around with it in the
beginning, to tie into the title of the piece...

    At the club &mdash 08/01/04 - 09:44:21 AM
You had me at the club. Nice. The straight left hand is
not the usual jazz comp rhythm, too straight, and the
bass does seem in a different space than the digital piano.
But this is an entirely enjoyable tune, with a very nice bass
intro (I really liked it, and great bass playing throughout),
classic melody (which is harder to create than people
realize), and nice variations. I would have loved to have a
brushes drum set with an occasional brushed cymbal; that
would have helped set up and hold together the tempo
changes (which were a very nice addition). Wonderfully
    listenable track, thoroughly entertaining.

BINGO! You are absolutely right about the drums. I so wanted to get a good
brush sound, but could not acheive it with MJ's Jazz Kit. Is this something
that is available in Jam Pack? Regarding the straight left hand, you are once
again quite right. The left hand is really doing more of what a jazz guitar
might do in this piece. I've never played this with anyone else, but perhaps if
I had someone else to hold down the straight rhythm on another instrument, I
could syncopate the left hand more. Great observations, thanks!

That was great, I don't know what genre you sound
best in. I feel like such a non-musician on the site,
I'm glad to see some people enjoy my material also,
because the talent here is great.

I'm not music expert by any means, so whatever is wrong with this tune, i don't know and i don't care, I like it the way it is. 7-7-7-8

    Nice job &mdash 01/20/05 - 08:44:49 AM
    Thanks for sharing.

I like the bass as well.
You really seem to have a good command of the
    keyboard! Very melodic runs!

If the voting was not down I would give you a much
higher score than what is up there. Because I really believe
    you are under rated!!!!
