nice job... &mdash 10/03/06 - 09:26:10 PM
on how all the bits meet to make a unified beat, interesting. also years
ago i had a room mate that when he chewed his food could make some of
those noises. cool tune!

Thanks for stopping by &mdash 10/03/06 - 09:53:33 PM
Maybe I was influenced by the carpenter ants I found in a rotten window sill in
my garage. They had done a lot of chewing! It did happen at the time I was
writing this tune.

Thanks Vincent &mdash 10/10/06 - 07:39:41 PM
As always, I am pleased that you stopped by. I liked the way this song came
together. I started it under a working title of Ozone Hole but by the time I
finished it the title and the song didn't work together, so it became Modern
Times. I think it works better this way. I'm reserving the title Ozone Hole for
one of my future songs.

Another &mdash 10/10/06 - 09:20:45 PM
Kind of strange and very well put together piece. Bill I like your style
and mixing. Everything is tight and the compression is just right for
my ears. Are you doing all of this in GB? I am headed off to listen to
more of your "Musical Art Work" my man. Keep up the great work.
Thanks for sharing.

all in GB &mdash 10/10/06 - 10:57:50 PM
All that I do is in GB. I like the program because it's design is easy to
understand and use (like a lot of apple programs) and allows me to work on
the song instead working on understanding the program and on the settings.
GB is to audio recording what appleworks is to word processing and
drawing... Not the fanciest program around but it allows you to get the work
done 95 percent of the time.
I use ProTools in real work and find it more like MS word ... a lot of stuff there
that is (maybe) nice to have, but that often gets in the way of the work flow.
Hope you enjoy all the tunes I've posted here. I've got a lot more coming.

Excellent piece &mdash 07/10/07 - 10:24:04 AM
that fits like a glove to the title. Much interesting going on in here!

I would also like to agree with you on those fancy programs, that stand in the way instead of helping. May I add Photoshop to that list? In old times (OS 9 or so) Adobe had a nice little program called ImageStyler that was sooo nice, very intuitive. Of course you could only do the things you wanted to do in there, not EVERYTHING, as I guess you can in Photoshop (if you have the time).

And last, the art work, isn't that a glass piece by the Swedish artist Ulrica Hyman-Vallien. Expensive and considered fine, even if not my personal favorite (I like the classic transparent Swedish crystal better...)

Thanks for the comment &mdash 07/10/07 - 03:30:55 PM
I really do like GB a lot because of the reasons I stated above. Some people just don't get what Apple has done with a lot of its programs and the ease of use and intuitive interface they have included from the OS right on through. They apologize for using programs like GarageBand or Imovie. Its not the tools that are important, it is the finished work that comes from using those tools.

BTW about the picture. I don't know what the name of the piece of glasswork is. It could be by the artist you mentioned. I took the picture at the glass museum at the Corning Glass Works in Corning NY. They are one of the premier glass makers in this country and have a wonderful museum of all sorts of glass pieces from artwork to giant telescope reflectors. I had a new camera and just went crazy taking all the pics I could. I thought the "girl" had such a cool Mid 20th century "modern" look that it would go well with the song title.
