Description:
Ahhh.... O.k. So I've taken the advice of many of you and put myself into my music, as a kind of therapy to get me through this trying time. I have come up with this track which has some samples from one of my fellow (former) neighbours here in Lawrence, Kansas; William S. Burroughs. Mr. Burroughs is an awesome writer and I love to hear him speak. I recently went by his former home here in Lawrence, and it still looks the same as it did when he lived there until 1997. It is still painted the same red with white trim and has the small fish pond on the side yard. Anyway, here is my attempt at trying to cope, by doing something I am very passionate about; my music. Hope you all like it. It's a little different than my usual, but still, somehow, all Boris. Take care & thank you all for your wonderful support! Enjoy!

konkussive &mdash 10/08/06 - 11:01:45 AM
slippery strange music here, I like the echoey arpeggios... an ironic
metaphor for words echoing and fading away like rain into the gutter.
Inter-species communication... have you ever stared into somebody's
eyes after a long talk, and felt like you were looking into the eyes of a
bird, that stares back momentarily, cocks its head and flies off?

Odd but addictive little riff you have here, apropos sound-bite... take
care,
ttfn,
Drakonis

Thanks Drak, for stopping by. I guess it was my mood that brings out the oddity
in this one. I'll look back on this and wonder "what the heck was I thnking???".
Haha! Anyway, I liked your review. A bit hard to tell if you liked it, but I liked
your review, none the less. Thanks for stopping by, my friend. I always love
when you stop by. Take care Drak! Have a great weekend! Hope all is going well
for you and your family! Peace!

Nice mood &mdash 10/08/06 - 12:10:43 PM
I like the atmosphere you created here. It feels mysterious and dark,
yet uplifting at the same time. The voice clips are a nice touch and
really add to the music. Some great sounds as well. Wonderful job!

Nice Mood... &mdash 10/10/06 - 08:00:44 AM
Thanks so much! I really appreciate you taking a listen. The sound samples are from a MUCH larger audio clip where Burroughs and Allan Ginsberg are talking on stage somewhere. Not sure where though. I was lucky enough to find it and have it be of such good quality. Most of the audio clips I had been coming across of Burroughs, was really low bit rate and not very clear at all. Anyway, I'm glad you enjoyed it! This has been a kind of therapy for me lately, at the request of many fellow MacJammers. They are right.....I cant stop doing what I love doing the most.Take care! Peace!

Familiar &mdash 10/09/06 - 02:24:16 PM
This sounded a bit familiar. I may have listened to it before here at MJ, but
I can also hear some Jean Michel Jarre in the music. The voice adds nicely.
Having GB in mind I thought it sounded like president GB, but obviously it
wasn't ;-) I'll try some more of your stuff..!

I liked your song after hearing it for the first time.
Now I have found the time to come back and write a little comment.
The sounds are very nicely build and a pleasure to listen to.
Also the spoken words by Mr. Burroughs are chosen and integrated very
well into your song !
Never underestimate the very strong power of communication ..)

Hey Rob! &mdash 10/11/06 - 12:38:16 PM
Thanks for stoping by! Glad you liked it. Your comments are always appreciated! I really dig on the Burroughs samples too. I used to have quite a collection of short voice clips from him, but I've since lost them over the years. Oh well. I keep trying to figure out why your AIM account isn't showing up in iChat. I've been wanting to chat with you. AIM gets frustrating. :P We'll get it figured out eventually, then we can get to chatting again. Your old account worked fine though. Be well, Rob! Peace!

Nice! &mdash 10/10/06 - 09:07:43 PM
I really like the flow of this tune. I like when the percussion fades in and
really gets things moving. (the FX are cool) I like the VOX samples you
used. Very nice tune!

Woo Hooo! Good to hear from you again! Glad you liked it! I miss our jam
sessions. Unfortunately they might not happen for quite a while. But I'm working
on it. I hope to hear from you soon. I know you're REALLY busy right now, so
have safe trips! Enjoy the scenery too though. :-) Be well, Mike! Peace!

Slippery alright! &mdash 10/11/06 - 03:39:51 AM
The music moves around and about, and slips into some dark places,
but the overall emotion I feel after listening is hope. I've been getting
the od flash of Berlin (the city) on listening to a number of recent MJ
posts, and this one has done it again. I love Berlin, and having more
music to take me there is always appreciated. As this also reminds me
of a train station, it's Bahnhof Zoo on a dark night - there's always
something interesting happening there : )
Richard, I really am hoping that this piece has helped you to maybe
clear your head and heart over the past week or so. I really like this!
Peace.

Cool &mdash 10/13/06 - 07:25:46 AM
Like Borroughs used cut-up techniques in his writing, you now uses his
words to nicely make this great mix. I'm sure he would have approved.
The mix itself is hypnotic and easily get stuck in your mind. I've heard
many attempts and examples with Borroughs - this is one of the better
ones. Thanks! /M
