but damn ... damn close to it. The mix is really good with lots of air
around all the instruments and the voices. The production hooks are in
all the right places and in the right amount. I especially like the end of
the first chorus ... nice touch with the break there. I like the almost A
Cappella treatment of the 3rd chorus. Great voice on this and nice
interplay of the vocal tracks.
What would make it perfect? (and it doesn't really need these things
they are just my personal suggestions)...Anchor the background voice
instead of letting it wander across the soundstage...Perhaps an 8 bar
piano solo as a bridge before verse 3 ... maybe a tasteful counter
melody from a guitar or the piano in the third verse.
Having said all that I still want to point out that I think this is a really
wonderful song. Thanks for posting it.

Much better! The piano is brought up a little and not so muffled it seems.
It feels like vox, drums, guitars, piano are better balanced, even in the
busy chorus. Sounds like the bass is boosted a bit too, sounds good.
There are a couple of places (e.g., near the end of the last chorus) where
Leon's S's get a little loud and noticeably hissy in the mix, but that is
about the only thing I could hear wrong with it... thanks for slowing the
ending piano down, that sounds great! Wonderful work, you two!

Yo, what I really like about this is the atmosphere and the sentimental
feeling. The piano is warm and a strong support through the song. Singer
is really good and one appreciates the work that has gone into the

I didn't hear the other version, but I really like this. It has a great,
catchy hook, superb vocals, and good lyrics. Nice production on this,
too. Those vocals really sell it!

Wow. Just wow. I have listened to this over and over, and have had it stuck

and he has tremendous curb appeal. The music is really inspiring, the
piano melody reminds me of both Dennis De Young and Radiohead's
"Spinning Plates." I don't know if you're looking for suggestions, but I
hear a few things that I think would bring it even higher are: give us a
simpler chorus the first time around, and for each chorus add the
elements until the full one at the end. That would help me, and I
suspect some other listeners wrap their heads around the very detailed
and well-placed vocals in the full chorus. Leon's voice is just beyond
and how you fit that many vocal elements clearly in the chorus is
beyond too. Just awesome. Also, the drums in the pre-chorus stand
out, meaning I noticed them to much. When they went into the chorus,
my concerns about them disappeared, but then they came back, I
thought they took the song down a notch. I wonder if something could
be done to bring them to a better sonic place? But all in all, this was
great to listen to.

Excellent pop song guys! Beautiful mix of vocals there. The a capella
part towards the end could maybe have sounded better without the
drums, but I'm really searching for nits here. This is as good as any
pop I've heard on the radio lately.

Brandon, this is definitely an improvement of the original instrumental arrangement. The acapella (or near-acapella) segment was dramatic and I didn't think of that previously. Sorry for the drums that got mixed accidentally in the vocals :-) I agree with those who said it could have been better without those drums. The ending was also better with the decelarating piano. I approve of the suggestion that the choral vocals could have been simpler initially, and more elaborate at the next and grandest at the last. Hmm, I never thought of that but great suggestion indeed. Lots of credit to you, Brandon. The singer is only as good as the material he sings.
