Description:
I've always wanted to write a song that just tells a story - so this is how it goes...Lyrics:
She lightens up cigarette, her lips in a faint smileblows circles in the smoke while tears flow from her eyes She goes through her closet to find something to wear and everytime she thinks of him she moves towards the door And as she walks around like that she doesn't understand how a simple love like they once had gets so out of hand That's how he finds her there He's worn-out and he's tired, been working all day long his mind is clouded by the problems he has had at work He goes through the refrigrator to get himself a beer doesn't notice she's been crying or what's going on right there And as he glances at her sideways he doesn't understand what happened to the spark of light that they once shared That's how he finds her there They fight as they do every night but then she looks at him and something breaks It takes a while for him to realize that she is leaving something's changed She's standing at the railway station, a suitcase in her hand a ticket to her hometown where she still has some friends See her lips move slowly repeating the same words 'This time I can make it' is what she tells herself But as the train arrives there the doors open and close she's still standing at the platform, regretting her choice That's how he finds her there Hardware:

listener to bring something to the mix... The general feel of the track
reminds of a cross between Steely Dan/Donald Fagen and maybe some of
the more lounge-like arrangements on some Leonard Cohen recordings.
It's a very well put together basic track. For some reason the vocal seems
to me to sit in a different acoustic space, seeming maybe a little dryer and
more forward than the instruments. I think also that the melody could be
stronger, more definite... I could imagine this with a very "smoky" lead
vocal, and some jazzy backing vocals coming in the chorus, and that
would be very catchy... Neat song, Denny.... Ed
