Description:
Just wanted to put this remix up. I made some changes in the bass and horns specifically... taking into consideration the suggestions of Jiguma and Scott Carmichael. Also a few other minor tweaks...

... a song that gives a nod to that great soul brother of the sixties... James Brown, "The Godfather of Soul." He pioneered the funk/soul sound... and this tune (hopefully) captures something of that sound he ushered in. The lyrics are a high-powered rant of sorts having to do with... well, let them just say what they say. Plenty of bass, organ, and horns.
cheers...

All instruments are loops... twisted, stretched, spun, and manipulated as deemed necessary.

Lyrics:
Bring It Up...

Verse 1:
Don't care about your jivin' wind
Don't care about your smack
Don't like it when you slam the man,
Doing it behind his back.

Don't care about your high falutin'
Don't care about your claims
You really think you're all of that?
Get back, better check your game.

Refrain:
Let me catch some harmonizing
Throw me some sweet tone
'Bout time you put it in a song
Get back, now bring it home.

Verse 2:
Don't care about no endless spiel
It's all a tired rant
Pontificate? Reciprocate!
Sometimes I think you can't

Beating on your brother
Don't care at all for this
Invective is infective
All you serving up is Diss

Refrain

Bridge

Verse 3:
Patronizing, scandalizing
Slagging your only tool?
High-handed low end haughtiness
Whatcha take me for a fool?

Don't care about that wieldy axe
It's something just to grind
Lay it down, then pick it up
And see what you might find.

J/K.... This does sound refined... but guess what, it was good to me 1st go-round. Shows what I don't know... but, "Let me catch some harmonizing, Throw me some sweet tone, 'Bout time you put it in a song...

Ha! Nice re-mix Jack, it's sweet. Sweet-er -

Love it. Very tasty, creative use of loops. Vocals/lyrics are very good.
Great delivery. You're harmonies are reminiscent of Steely Dan. The
beats got its grip on you and it shows. Nice mix, production.

Steely Dan? &mdash 10/14/06 - 07:46:18 PM
Whoa... compliment enough. AQ, thanks for taking the time to listen and to
comment. To do a loop only song was a fun exercise... resulting in this song
and a new appreciation for doing just that... looping a song. : )

cheers...

I hear more in it. This is a fun song which makes me wish I knew a lot
more about how to make loops sound great. Funky and cool. Very nice,
Jack. :-)

suffice to say... you sound great in your songs as you are. I am just fumbling
around with these loops in this song. Simply a fortunate occurrence. Much
thanks... that you have taken the time to, again, drop by...

Awesome .. &mdash 10/14/06 - 07:52:59 PM
.. great sound, neat construction: I liked the careful attention to stereo
field placement in the production too. Nice tribute .. and vocals seem
effortlessly delivered and provide the icing on the cake.

Kudos. Get on back Jack! .. AOW!! (hurts self doing splits) lol.

I've never heard.... &mdash 10/15/06 - 03:43:59 PM
...T.S. Eliot put so funkily to music...

That being said, this actually reminds some of the funkier moments of J.J.
Cale and that sort of laid back Tulsa sound...

You oughta try pitching this to Eric Clapton. If he can do 'Travelin' Light',
he can do this. Betcha he adds cowbell, but otherwise I bet he'd do it
pretty much like this.

Nice reincarnation of that funky 70's soul rock sound, especially the bass
line and horns.

This is some outstanding work Jack. &mdash 05/26/08 - 01:33:55 PM
Fantastic use of loops here my friend and the lyrics put the icing on the cake. Of course it doesn't hurt that the singer seems to have a natural talent for this kind of song. Do I detect signs of a misspent youth here Jack. lol

Great track, thanks for turning me on to it. Take care and be cool my friend,
