First of all...
this takes me to a peaceful and quiet place. And I don't want it to
end... sign of a very good song. Suffice to say... Fav'd and
downloaded. Give my thanks and Kudos to the band.

Oh sure... I tell you, and you tell somebody else, and pretty soon the whole
world is using animated GIFs for their artwork... (??!) oh shoot, see, now you
made me say it, sigh. :-) This is what you do when you can't decide which
picture would be best, you use them all! ;-) Anyway, GIF doesn't have a good
color palette, so I made them greyscale on the web page here, but they are full-
color inside that MP3 you downloaded :-) Just "Get Info" in iTunes and zoom in
on the artwork tab.

Hopefully Woodguy approves of the artwork I chose for his remake.

Restful, yet mysterious
It's like lying on the beach and the sea is calm and peaceful, and yet
the power in the water is evident. The music ebbs and flows with the
waves, and the ocean life teems in the voices. The video is cool, too. :-)

I like your embellishments and the fun you are having with Ember. You have
taken it for a cross-country spin, and this is much closer to the original... and as
Alannah says, almost too close... I was hoping for a little more wood and
sawdust in there. Glad you didn't use any Bondo, this is solid and clean, nice
job... if you ever want to take her out again, the keys are over the workbench in
the Garage :-) BTW, I have a newer chassis for Ember, which I used on the
poem and on the Didge version... you may want to build on that next time.

My ember collection is growing ...
... dig the woodness .... is this the MASTER MACJAMS COVER SONG now ??? I'm wondering if this holds the record for most makeovers??? I think this still could have been woodied a little more without losing the original integrity of the Ember. In my mind I could hear the surf guitar crank out a few more curls and twangs than I actually heard. Long live the embers !

It's a tough game

Embers
The dying embers of a sunset along the beach. Very relaxing. It's
amazing how many "flavors" you've been able to give this tune. Excellent
job here. At first, I thought the ending seemed out of character with all
that had come before but after listening a second time I changed my
mind; it's a nice little flourish.

Not me...
I only wrote the main Ember bed of coals... I let other people fan the flames...
this keeps taking on lives of its own, by the talented hands of others... Like
Woodguy here. As for the ending... its funny, but that little flourish is in the
original Ember piece, I just usually have faded it mostly out by the time it
happens, so you usually only barely hear the last gasp before it dies out. I guess
Woodie liked it and boosted it at the end :-)

emotion
i'm liking the build up in the beginning. seems to be a lot of emotion in the piece. i like the break in the middle with the slow melody. it sort of paints an image in my mind of different seasons sort of mixed together. i get a peaceful feeling of spring but then an image of snow as well. i don't know that's kind of confusing, but i think it works pretty nicely.

of one for the simple-sampled choir Ahhh sounds, but he did a pretty good job

I'm loving the monk chants (yeah I don't know what they're called) in the

Hmmm.. there were a number of strong emotions that drove this piece out of

peek inside my brain and get the "real scoop" on Ember, is to visit this link

Good to see you again Alan! Ember retains its dark character here, Woodguy wanted to leave a lot of it there. His sparse orchestration here does feel sort of futuristic. Hi Guys!
Welcome to Macjams... I (and I think many others) will be very pleased with some of your music being posted here. Thank you for the kind words... the original Ember has been and continues to be taken on many very unique collaborative journeys, and Woodguy here has already taken it on TWO himself (his earlier much brassier remix is in my list of songs too.) For this version, he wanted to only very lightly enhance Ember, leaving much of it as-is...

Patience pays off...
especially when you come to pay a visit and comment, thank you! I too find that there's a balance in creating music... much of it requires attention to detail and "twiddling lots of knobs" (in my case, since I can't perform/sing worth beans), but deep down it is a very creative/emotional/visceral experience, and sometimes I get all excited and post my work without final double-checking... I think lots of us do that! This particular piece (Ember) is my first collaborative piece, and it has quite a number of different people's re-interpretations of it, this being one. I am happy to hear that it sings to you as well, Anne, thank you again for stopping in and being carried along in its warm glow!

Increased Contrast
Hi Norman, and welcome to this great place, and thank you for stopping in and checking out one of the many versions of Ember (I shall go visit your page soon). I agree that this version has more upbeat elements, although I think the unadorned original "Ember-Rekindled" does have some light/dark ambiguity... something I am fond of trying to capture in my music... so I agree that PV was only partly joking when he said that. Woodguy here did a great job of playing his distinctive surf guitar sound on this. And of course, if you'd like to take Ember under your wing and create something from it, drop me a note! You may also want to listen to a few other versions, some are quite unique, even Woodguy's OTHER version of this (Surfing Embers).

I agree
I agree with dadai that this song takes me to peaceful and quiet place. Very nice to just sit down and relax listening to this on headphones. i also like the progression in this song. The quite part in the middle, was a very nice break before the mellotrone sounding sounds come in. A nice and pleasant relaxing piece of music.

crackling embers
so glad to take you to a quiet peaceful place for a little bit. Woodguy's guitar work on this was very well done, I thought. This is his interpretation of my original piece... and there are many other variations on this piece as you will see. Thank you for checking out some of my work, and welcome!

personal tranquility
this reminds me of the personal tranquility I feel when I am near the sea, in the sea... I believe anything involved with the sea is very special and your song made feel like watching the sea after an hour of swimming... tired, feeling the breeze but really feeling good.

Each instrument is telling its own story to together cast this nice song. I like their coolness about sounding themselves. it's good that you did not push yourself to create extra harmony...

oceans of delight
Glad you stopped in to listen, thank you! I commented on your latest, but noticed some ambient pieces and will go back and catch those soon too. I've lived by the sea all my life, and the waves, salt, and sunsets are a part of my life. There is a powerful calmness about the ocean, I agree... glad you heard some of this powerful calmness in this piece. I think Woodguy did a nice understated job playing along to this, not overcrowding it. The original piece is indeed rather sparse, but it suits it well I think... glad you do too! And it is available for collaboration, so if you are interested in taking it for a spin yourself, feel free to ask!

caressing the flames
I think Woodie did a great job just gently wafting his guitar over the embers here, it is very California Dreamy... thanks for stopping in for a comment!
