ooh .. &mdash 10/18/06 - 04:38:15 AM
.. I really do like your classical pieces Feter - very nice indeed. Not too
much, not too little - it's very 'summer', meadow .. light breeze .. idealic
setting. The fluttering in the wind instruments always makes me think
of birds. It starts like a sunrise onto such a day .. very happy. I'm at
a loss for how to make these kinds of pieces better - fine as is for me. [ Reply to This ]

Bright and full of hope... &mdash 10/18/06 - 09:07:33 PM
as you seem to be as a person. An artist's personality always comes
through in his work. That is really kind of a cool thing, because by
listening to your music I get to know a little bit of this guy named
Feter. This is a lovely musical interlude with which to enter the
evening time.... [ Reply to This ]

Another lovely piece Feter - you always surprise me with the breadth of
your musical knowledge and skill. I'll be away from MJ for maybe 3
weeks - will try to catch up your new stuff when I get back.
Peace, and take care! I hope happiness responds to your call!

...Mr. Feter McMozart! A lovely piece this. Soothing. Hopeful. APB's
"meadow" comparison is dead on. I think I just saw the last of the
butterflies flitter away!

Very soothing &mdash 10/20/06 - 05:31:30 PM
I'd like to see an effort to let the instruments move in independent but complementary ways. Right now most of the instruments seem to follow the melody established by the flute, so when the flute stops almost everything stops and where the flute so does just about everything else, leaving the piece sounding a tad choppy in places. Of course this is because I am listening to it against the backdrop of the classical music it seems to be emulating, which would be in the Bach/Vivaldi era. Still a very nice melody and some interesting work with trills. One production note: allow at least one instrument to continue the track (silently) so that the all effects can completely ring out and the piece is not chopped by GB at the end. [ Reply to This ]
chopped &mdash 10/20/06 - 05:47:52 PM
thnx .. this piece has its own mixutre in
answering with in narrow spaces as the flute
is the lead line .I used to write more alike
a choir that insterumental piece I know this
is an old piece of mine if you go listen to
the other pieces I uploaded before you ll feel
the change , but any how I loved this kind of
wed narrow mixed writing ..this is a problem
I had with fruityloop4 .. the endings need a trick
to deal with at Cooledit pro ..to make it sound
unchopped and natural ending ...ye I know what you
suggest but sometimes you feel like you want the
last notes end in time ..I never bothered this alot
anyway ..glad you pass by and hoping you enjoy the piece as well ...!! [ Reply to This ]
Joyous! &mdash 10/20/06 - 05:58:21 PM
Bursting with sunlight and hope. On the technical side I would have liked
some more definition and clarity between the different instruments and a
little more space after the end but a very enjoyable piece Feter. Well
Done. [ Reply to This ]
thnx alot &mdash 10/20/06 - 09:48:38 PM
bowman .. as you notice this is an early renaissence
form of piece which what I was studyin when I wrote it
if you replace the insteruments by choirs or singers
will see the changes .but still the cello down gives
some support for some breath in colors ..and yes I agree
about the ending ..I ll try to recover it some how ..
thnx alot for your kind words ..it mean alot to me !! [ Reply to This ]
Classical charm &mdash 10/21/06 - 04:34:40 AM
I thoroughly enjoyed this piece. A mix of Euro and Middle Eastern
orchestration, not unlike an old family record I was just listening to --
The Baalbeck Overture by Towfiq Basha. This has a distant yet intimate
quality about it. [ Reply to This ]
a real point !! &mdash 10/21/06 - 04:40:18 AM
Richard you made a very spesific point about my
music writing ..renaissence one day was a world taste
was it eastern or European .. I m so glad you noticed
that .. thank you for your kind words .!! [ Reply to This ]
soon... &mdash 10/23/06 - 06:03:59 PM
Soon we will have our collaboration ready, called "Happiness Calling" -- with
sung lyrics!. You have drawn me back to Renaissance music with this one,
Feter. Thank you so much. When Harold hears our collab, he will understand
the foreshortened timings.

This is beautiful sounds like your spirits are high from this piece. I like it. it's very moving. The addition of a nice solo bass would be cool in this! I almost hear it! [ Reply to This ]

My gosh! &mdash 10/23/06 - 04:43:16 PM
I cannot comment on this, it is above my level to critique, just to say it is beautiful. I can't understand the tempo and scores that seem foreshortened in length.... But all flows well and is pleasant to me. Thanks! - Harold [ Reply to This ]

dulcet &mdash 10/24/06 - 12:31:55 PM
this piece is pretty. i'd like to hear it played more slowly, and with more emotion. does your software have a good humanization function? also, i think this track would benefit from having a couple different clean single-instrument string parts with stronger attack, rather than using a string section pad with a soft attack.
cheers,
-=ez [ Reply to This ]
more soft !! &mdash 10/24/06 - 01:08:43 PM
I found using string set will soften the whole mood
than tence attacks ... as the flute floating up ..
thnx for your words ..glad you like it ...!! [ Reply to This ]
dynamics, attack... &mdash 10/24/06 - 01:33:16 PM
that can be true...but this track is already a soft piece, so you don't necessarily need for the string section to be soft. it's just a suggestion, but i think that nice, bright & clean single string parts would sound really sweet. harden the attack, so that there isn't a dealy when the strings come in, and it should sound more legato (instead of pulsating). but use a humanization function, or whatever, so that you have more true dynamics in the string line, rather than just having a delayed attack.

slowing it down &mdash 10/24/06 - 03:43:32 PM
My first impression was that the song was too hurried. But as I work on my
collaborative version with Feter (which adds vocals), it seems less hurried. I
am trying to get more definition, stereo separation and humanization in the
MIDI instruments. Feter sent me his raw MIDI file which has three tracks or
voice lines. I am using both legato and attack change-ups to give the song
more movement and variety. Also allowing some instruments to solo. I am
getting a nice lesson in Renaissance orchestration from Feter. I thank him so
much. I am adding a light "1-rest-2-3" percussion track (my own tambourine
and ceramic drum).

Lyrics &mdash 10/25/06 - 07:46:05 AM
Here is how our lyrics are shaping up for the vocalized version of "Happiness
Calling"
Happiness calling! Love is returning!
Happiness is calling to me, my friend.
Love is making my heart to sing.
Years spent in the darkness.
Now the sun is shining.
Emptiness filled me.
Bitterness killed me.
Oppression stilled me.
Now I'm free to give myself to you.
Happiness calling! Love is returning!
Hopefulness is now surrounding us.
Love is making your heart to sing.
Strength comes from the harmony.
Simple needs embracing.
Flowers blooming.
New steps taking.
Feelings sharing.
Now I'm free to do what I must do.

maybe it's some of the instrument choice that reminds me of elves. it seems a little short and ends abruplty other then that i think it works nicely. [ Reply to This ]

Very nice and happy melody &mdash 10/26/06 - 12:20:46 AM
I really need to learn how to use the strings. I am not comfortable using
them because when I have tried, they sound too artificial. Your sound
comes out quite pleasant to the ear. This is a download. [ Reply to This ]
