Description:
Going back in time to 2000. I had an really nice app called Melody Assistant, workin on os9. In Melody Assistant you penciled musical notation. You could then assign different instruments to it and listen. So I was sitting finding out music with my old guitar and succesively pencilng it into notation. Had a great time, as I remember.

It was unfinished so i have just faded it in the end ...

I also had an idea for lyrics, which are given below translated to English (in Swedish, they fit to the music, but as a translation they go out of rythm).

Lyrics:
Oceans are dying, earth is crying
man is chasing, for strength
souls are dying, the telly is rumbling
while man, is yearning for comfort

Who will understand, when I feel
the cries from hearts, bursting to pieces
Who can stop, this race
while man, is pretending it is feast

Who can raise, all deads
who can fill up, empty shells
who can forgive, our evil
is hope, all we have left

Oceans are dying, earth is crying
man is chasing, for strength
souls are dying, the telly is rumbling
while man, is yearning for comfort

Hardware:
PowerMacintosh 7600

Software:

It's not natural! &mdash 10/19/06 - 04:38:29 AM
Lovely resonance on this Curry - It doesn't seem right to have a Curry
song without the beautiful sounds of your guitar though. No lyrics
apparent yet - look forward to seeing/hearing them at some later
stage. Lovely melody and very tasteful orchestration. Melody Assistant
seems a winner my friend!

Sweet melody &mdash 10/19/06 - 05:29:03 AM
Beautiful tune ... it would be lovely to hear a version of this with some real guitar added.

Back in the days of System 7 I had some software called Concertware (I think) which enabled me to make tunes by inputting notes one at a time, and I spent so many hours working with it. Then somehow I managed to overwrite the whole lot during a software upgrade. Aaaaagh!

Good to see some of these archive tunes seeing the light of day.

Haha, Yes, Concerware &mdash 10/19/06 - 01:48:09 PM
Haha, Yes, I remember Concerware too. Too bad you lost you music. Concerware
was as I remember like a toy thing. But I remember having many intense
interesting hours with it too.

It's a good melody.... &mdash 10/19/06 - 07:04:37 AM
...and it carries well on this single, flute-like voice...

I could hear it in my head broken up for, say, two guitars and a
mandolin or Irish bouzouki and a deep, not-too-busy bass... And,
maybe, Mary Black singing...

I like the lyrics, too. Having just gone to finally see 'An Inconvenient
Truth' at one of the church-based showings that have been going on in
my part of the world, the lyrics suit my sense of the ecological mood....

Into the iPod, with thanks...

Ed

... two guitars and a mandolin, that's close to my dream for a band. Did not
know of Mary Black but could find her official homepage where I could hear
some live sound clips. Thank you for stopping by and for widening my musical
knowledge Ed.

I need an automagic &mdash 10/19/06 - 02:29:34 PM
favorite button that pops up when I get the email notifying a new curry song, that will set the score to 10 and download to my favs, even before I listen.

Departure from your guitar excellence here, but not your musical talent. I think that some brief whistle bursts of harder wind pressure (sorry, no terminology I know) in spots to accent would sound nice. - Harold

Your melody is beautiful Curry. You have a wonderful talent for
composing music. Then you improve on that by playing it effortlessly! I'm
sure this one will become part of your guitar repertoire as well.

God bless,

Rick

Lovely! &mdash 10/21/06 - 02:42:22 PM
I listened to it a few times and liked it more and more after each time.
Very sweet and charming. I like that quality in your music. And I hope you
don't mind my comparison, but there is this soundtrack done for a
computer game (yes, mundane but it really made an impression on me
when I was young) called "Monkey Island" (Secret of MI%u2013 and Escape from
MI) which is quite similar in style and has this same positive energy as
your music. Thought you might enjoy giving that a listen. I could imagine
this song would even work with your signature accoustic guitar added!
Just an idea. Thanks for sharing!

ooh, I love this! &mdash 10/23/06 - 11:42:48 AM
I love the lyrics you've written, too. My favorite part in the song: where
you hold the high note while the bass notes change chord in rhythm. I'd
love to toy around with this melody. Agree with Parichayaka: Where's your
guitar?

[ Reply to This ]
Lovely &mdash 10/23/06 - 01:15:40 PM
I have to admit I thought I had received a wrong notification email,
because when I pressed play on a Cori Ander song and didn't hear a
guitar - I was a bit surprised.

Not a bad surprise, mind you! A very nice surprise.

You still maintain your lovely sense of melody and the overall feel is not
that much different.

I think Parichayaka has a point about the Monkey Island connection. This
song does bring up thoughts of that game - might be the flute that does
the trick.

Anyway - a lovely song and a very nice surprise :)

A "heartbeat" song &mdash 10/24/06 - 02:02:39 AM
The "pulse" going in the background makes me think of a heartbeat.... a
little fast for a heartbeat... but steady nonetheless. I love heartbeat songs
and they have a long, honorable tradition, to Bach and perhaps farther
back in time.

This song appeals to my Pacific Northwest heart and our love of orcas,
salmon, etc.

Another Pencil Abuser &mdash 10/25/06 - 05:12:30 PM
Curry.... I like the melody, it is very tranquil. Kind of like taking a journey down by the sea and watching the waves make their own music. My brother, hrluper and I had a chance here recently to hook up with one of our own macjammers, drakonis. It was interesting talking to him about how he had started out way back in the earlier statges of the computer era in 3D and then music. He like Alimar both are pencil abusers and really come up with some beautiful stuff. Thanks for sharing some of your past.
