Description:
A sweet melody that reminds me of the beautiful American West wonders. Driving through Idahoe inspired me to compose this piece. I hope you like it.I removed some of the strings until I figure how to do it right. Do I have to remove the previous version? I though you could replace the song with a new verison without having to delete and resubmit.....Oh well...Drakonis: like always, thank you for your comments and suggestions.

Yamaha CVP-98

poof! Gone... &mdash 10/21/06 - 11:10:58 PM
Well, unfortunately, if you remove your song, all the comments go
away too, so that long secret explanation I typed in the comments
about how to make the strings sound better on te prior song... is now
gone and still a secret. :-) Someday Macjams will let us have multiple
revisions of a song, so we can compare the fixes made. This still
retains a lot of its charm without the extra strings, but they did add to
it I think.. so I hope you try a new version sometime. Also, the overall
volume on this piece seems a little low, you may want to boost the
master volume a bit. But I'll repeat, this is a very pretty piece, both the
"Western"style theme and the "Spanish" style theme... as always, great
music from you!
ttfn,
Drakonis

Moi? &mdash 10/21/06 - 11:37:54 PM
No, you just got me on a night when I had some free time (very rare these days,
unfortunately!) I'm glad you find my ideas helpful, I certainly find your music a
delight. I always try to give honest helpful advice, because that is what I would
like from others about my music, so I can learn to write better pieces. Keep
telling the stories in your soul through music!

Drakonis

Very Pretty &mdash 10/22/06 - 07:30:24 PM
Well, you have a romantic soul, that's for sure! Another beautiful
composition by you. The software instruments sound great. It seems
like it might be a little quiet, so, as drakonis says, maybe if you do
another version consider raising the volume a bit.

Very pretty, again.

Inspiring! &mdash 10/23/06 - 12:34:11 PM
I love this kind of music. Accoustic guitar, piano, strings. Charming! Very nice ending of the theme towards the end before the guitar starts again. Subtle and beautiful. And if I may, here are a few ideas I had when listening. I could imagine the piano coming in at an octave lower to built up to the higher notes. Also, I usually alter the release of the strings to make the sound a little softer and more organic. And since your melody is quite pronounced the way it is, the strings may be even more effective if you use them supporting the melodies with a simple counter melody rather than playing the same melody (towards the end, I mean). Needless to say, these just ideas, your work is perfect in its own way. Can't wait to listen to your other posts!

it's NOT a guitar? &mdash 10/23/06 - 08:18:55 PM
this is wonderful. the modulations to minor work nicely. i guess for
symmetry, i would have ended up with a fifth part in major, but that's
just me...

the guitar is convincing: if i hadn't read your post i might not have
guessed it wasn't a guitar. it sures sounds like something you could
really play on a guitar....

somehow the counterpoint in the background is not quite loud
enough, and maybe it needs to be a little more differentiated from the
guitar's melody.....

but, don't get me wrong, i like this piece very much. thank you.
