Lyrics

all the days/we shared...
all the time/you and i
never saw flashing by,
like some kind of wildfire...

all the hours/we thought were ours,
will go on without us,
devouring the days/falling
helplessly away...

into the sweet, summer air
each one you've loved is somewhere...
as invincible history grows,
we are leaves on the water,
we go/where the wind blows...

-as deeper the mystery grows...

hiya Jonx
this is a very polished and impressive tune. I love your voice and vocal
delivery, and the guitar playing is very solid. Production wise, it's
perfect, to my ears. Really nice work. Very very impressed.

More excellence
This is another gem from your genius, Mr. Jonx. You are a skilled poet
and a great songwriter. Listening to your music always takes me away
from wherever I am to wherever you intended.

I not only download your songs, I send them to the people I know will
appreciate them. Your material is just outstanding. Thank you for making
my iPod richer.

Deceptively Simple
I like the way the arrangement builds and your singing.
Your facility with creating a song like this, which presents itself with the
immediacy of a sketch, but with strong performances, clear production
and full arrangement, is impressive.

Nice!
You've got some pipes. Your voice reminds me a lot of Collective Soul.
Excellent production.

WHO ARE YOU REALLY?
You've always been a songwriter' songwriter, and now you seem hell
bent on becoming a producer's producer...

Great singing, great production, great lyrics....

This is just terrific. I am grateful I get to listen and download songs of
this caliber and listen to them any ol' time I want to...

Let me and us know when that jonx CD comes out. Unless, of course, it
already is out 'cause you're secretly somebody famous....

Has momentum
This song really goes somewhere. I love when the drums and electrics kick in. Nothing else I can really add other than that this is a great song.

I've been wondering where you
were.... I haven't been around much either... real life kind of hit me
between the eyes.... but I will always come back for your stuff... you
still set the bar for me on how to turn a phrase.... and support it with
the feel and emotion that you wring out of each line... the artfulness in
your approach sets you apart here at MJ, but you know I've always been
a fan of your work...

and this shines with the best of your stuff

How do I love this? Let me count the ways. Maybe I'll just add to my music
library to enjoy over and over again. Thank you for this. Your work is
outstanding. Man, your voice sounds like the singer of Collective Soul.
This is totally up to par with the best of singer/songwriters out there.
Bravo.

I always think to myself...
Yeah! A new jonx tune! This one doesn't dissapoint. I guess I'm in the minority though because I like your music best when it's just your voice and your guitar. Your vocals possess an intimacy unmatched. Your guitar playing compliments perfectly. Your ability to write deep, thought provoking lyrics, and sing them in such an honest style leaves me wanting your songs to be longer. Great song. Thanks for sharing your music here.

yeah
impressive seems to pop up repeatedly in the threads below and its an
apt description. There's a sense of style and accesibility with your
songcraft thats simply wonderful. no pretense or contrived formula,
just a gifted singer songwriter and his instrument. Or is it instruments?
I hear lots goin on..is that you playing evrything?

Beautiful.
As usual your lyrics make the rest of us look very bad! Musically this is engaging, love the way it speeds up and rocks out mid way.

Awesome.

Great
Great singing, good and solid song writing. Just the guitars in the background feel a bit lumpy, or dull. They melt to one undefinable substance.

I would like to hear this with a different arrangement. But I do like the song a lot.

lumpy?
lumpy indeed-like my unmade bed--if there's a way to get a decent gtr sound short of dropping $400.00 on GuitarRig or hiring McBoy, i've yet to find it...the acoustic version of this is better-i'd like to do this one again-there's a tempo change halfway that i had a hard time with it, but your criticisms are right on-i'll keep workin' on it...thanks y'all!

Nice lyrics
and a good song. To my ears, the drums dominate a little too much, especially the kick and snare are very central in the sound image. Thanks for posting this.

Excellent
One of the best emails I receive:"jonx, one of your favorite MacJams.com artists has posted a new song".

I honestly think that there isn't an upload of yours that hasn't reached my iTunes library as well. Very few MJers have achieved that in my books.

Wonderful!

singer's singer
Amazing (again) song jonx - Ed mentioned "songwriter' songwriter" and "producer's producer" - can I just add "singer's singer"? This is a really nice tune. The only thing that makes it not sound radio-ready is the slight hiss in the background - maybe a mic or software problem?
You just seem to do this stuff so effortlessly - brilliant!
