Sprightly, amusing in parts, cool, relaxed, good clear recording.

Great Jam &mdash 10/24/06 - 12:44:29 PM
Excellent technique and wicked fun riffs. Did you also perform the bass
and drum tracks? Ever run effects on the flute, or would that be heresy? I
suddenly have the urge to drink coffee and smoke a cigarette, but I don't
smoke.

wow &mdash 10/24/06 - 12:52:58 PM
I am always in awe of such talent... what I hear is somebody who is
soooo good at playing, that they can hit every note dead-on, even
32nd note arpeggios with crisp accuracy, and can also do wild sound
effects for fun (loved that weird hum-overtone sound you got in the
middle), and can use the technical prowess to make this just FLOW and
sound effortless and bouncy-fun. Reminds me a bit of Rampal's
playing on my favorite old recording of Bolling's "Suite for Flute and
Jazz Piano". Wowow, this is stunning work... on the edge of my jazz-
comfort zone, but boy did I enjoy listening to you play this! Is this
something you wrote or improvised? Very very impressive stuff!

wow. &mdash 10/24/06 - 03:34:22 PM
for an out take, this is especially killer.

this isn't a totally improved jam, though, is it? it's too tight in places.

some amazing amazing playing here. the flute is, of course, brilliant. the
bass solo is sweet - esp the chords at the end.

nothing else to say really. made my afternoon.

very cool.... &mdash 10/24/06 - 03:39:05 PM
like i always say, one can never recapture the energy of improvisation & free-style jams...this music is alive, organic, in the moment, and spontaneous...awesome dialogue between the bass and flute...the bass adds a nice contrast to the more flighty flute sound...hey, don't forget to inhale too

We are lucky to have you here!!! &mdash 10/24/06 - 07:16:43 PM

I'm loving that jazzy flute, you get into some adventurous playing.
Reminds of 60's jazz, real fun
Continue to bring the goods, looking forward to it!

I'm not a jazz afidionado,.... &mdash 10/24/06 - 07:50:12 PM
....but this is really ear-pleasing. Gets into the soul, but also engages the
intellect... Great interplay from bass to flute and back again... Very nicely
recorded.... I am really enjoying your contributions to MacJams, tatin.

This is great work, &mdash 10/25/06 - 05:42:30 PM
I love each of the instruments, but your description says that you play
the flute and the brush set? How does that work? Did you record the
bass and drum set first and then you played the flute? Or the other way
around? Or was that a typo and was there a drummer? Or do you have
four hands? I'm betting on the first option (drum & bass first, flute
later) because of the interwoven parts of the flute and bass which are
exceptionally tight for an improvisation. Anyway, great work, keep
posting this stuff!
Bye

Soundtrack &mdash 06/27/08 - 04:31:37 PM
Sounds like a soundtrack from the TV show "The Mod Squad" from the late 1960s. Flute work is just out of this world. You must practice constantly, not just to keep up your chops, but to keep your improv imagination ready.

I don't hear a keyboard or guitar, but with a lead this good, who needs them?

Inspiring.

John
