A remix of my country tune featuring backing vocals by Amanda Chapman. A definite improvement if ya ask me :)

Lyrics:
Cowboy's Song
Dave Placko © 1985

Well, I like whiskey and I like a good smoke
And I like a cold beer, that ain't no joke
And I like goin' out on Saturday nights
Gettin' a little drunk and maybe startin' some fights

But hay, don't you know?
That's just a part of every ol' cowboy's song

I go to town every once in a while
To see the pretty ladies and get a big smile
I go in the honky-tonks and ask 'em to dance
They say, cowboy, you ain't got no chance

But hay, don't you know?
That's just a part of every ol' cowboy's song

And I got my boots and I got my hat
I got an ol' horse and I know where it's at
I bust my tail all day long

But hay, don't you know?
That's just a part of every ol' cowboy's song

Now, I got friends all over the state
There ain't nobody that I really hate
But there are a few things that I just don't like
Like sayin' I'm wrong when I know that I'm right

But hay, don't you know?
That's just a part of every ol' cowboy's song

And I got my boots and I got my hat
I got an ol' horse and I know where it's at
I bust my tail all day long

But hay, don't you know?
That's just a part of every ol' cowboy's song

Can't Vote Twice, but,

MAN, I Really Like This Tune!

I Come Back, like Every Night.

Just hum along and go to Bed.

I think it is Really Fine, Balanced and something else, Understated.

Very Best,

Cooper

Your really got me ! &mdash 10/31/06 - 03:48:53 AM
As a newbee here, I'm browsing a lot of new artists, and there is so much here to listen at ! Attracted by your funny pink bug, I discovered your work and listenned to ALL your songs. I immediatly made some of them my faves, while this is not the kind of music I usually listen to. You're a great composer, lyricist, performer and singer. One day, when you'll be rich and famous (maybe you are allready) I will boast I was one of your first fan ! No kid !
Congratulation anyway or your work, thanks for sharing.

...Had a chance to listen to your stuff yet, MacGalver. Just wanted to thank you for listening and let you know that, as a fellow (although former) Texan, The line, "Got friends all over the state," was refering to the great state of Texas! :)

You forgot the pickup truck &mdash 02/17/07 - 12:46:34 AM
otherwise you hit most of the cliches of a good country song.

Very enjoyable, with the twangy guitar and the ooh-aah female vocals.

Victor.

Thanks for stopping by for a listen. It is very cliched, isn't it? Drinkin', fightin', horse back ridin'! Yeehaw! :) Amanda's background vocals are always phenomenal.

One thing about the forums is that sometimes something good comes out of the rubbish some people write - this is such an occasion Dave. I really enjoyed this song - great playing, singing, writing and production. Amanda does real good on the harmonies, and like Coop, I like this a lot.

Very reminiscent &mdash 03/07/07 - 06:01:06 PM
Of the old school country music. Something like "Cool Cool Water" or "Tumblin Tumbleweeds". Really enjoyed the relax feel. Great lead and BG vocals. Nice tune all around.

One of these days... &mdash 03/07/07 - 07:18:47 PM
...I might get around to recording my country song about Texas. Having grown up there, I have a few. Country music isn't really my favorite but, I can't deny it's influence in my music. Thanks for listening, John.

Nice song Bug &mdash 02/19/08 - 07:00:09 PM
I like the feel of this song, it just kind of moves along in a nice little shuffle way. Very good lyrics and the background and lead line fits the song great.
The only thing I would change is the level on the vocal, it needs to be brought up enough to where it comes through loud and clear. There are places where it's buried in the mix, and I can't catch all the lyrics. That's a good way to lose your audience on a bandstand, and also on a CD or mp3.

Other than that, this is a really good song, so crank it up Bug and let er rip.

Thanks for sharing

Ed

Soundtrack Material? &mdash 05/15/08 - 06:35:07 PM
This was a fun listen. As others have noted, easy on the ears. The instrumentation is wonderful, the vocals delivered pretty well, and the sentiment within the song is nice. If I were to point to a weakness, I'd argue the lyrics are fairly uninspired and rather predictable. Would have been nice to see some better pictures painted with the words. More poetry, things said from a unique perspective.

This could make a nice backdrop to a "B" Western movie just as it is ...
