Description
This is a track by Matty B. Boy, a new talented artist here on macjams. He asked me to check out his page to add vocals to any song. I wanted to add to all of them! This is still a work in progress and I am waiting to hear back from Matty!!

Matt- I have messaged you a bunch! This song has not been mixed yet. I don't have your opinion on it. Let me know what you think and if you want to remix it. I disabled the d/l because I don't have your permission with this song yet.

To everyone else: hi!!! Do you think the speaking part fits in w/ the song? Also, if you see Matty B. Boy tell him I'm looking for him and direct him here. Thanks!!!!

Lyrics
Breathe me in

Echoes riding up and down my spine
Telling a story at each vertebrae
Like a caterpillar that never learns to fly
Only your heart will keep me alive

God grant me the serenity to accept the things i cannot change
Courage to change the things that I can
And Wisdom to know the difference (Serenity Prayer)

You close in and I don't know why
Feelings are hard to face when you don't look inside
So please just breathe me in
I'll protect you if you breathe me in
Just breathe me in and I will be there

delicious duo
I really liked Matty's original piece, and left him a comment, hinting
that vox would be good... and here they are! Very nice blending of
your lead vocals... I like your mirroring of Matty's slide in your singing
too. As far as athe middle speaking part, I think it works well, but you
may want to try a different way of speaking it, you sound like you are
reading it off a page. Usually that prayer means that the speaker is at
a crossroads, so you may want to read it with a bit of pleading or
anguish in your voice, add some emotion! That's my only critique,
otherwise this sounds really nice! Hopefully Matty finds time from his
busy dj schedule to check in here. Good work, Linda!

Drakonis

thank you!
Drakonis, Thank you so much for the kind and speedy feedback. Your right
about the speaking part. I guess I could say it with more feelings. I was kind of
saying in a peaceful calm way because well....that's what the prayer does for me.
It can always be taken out of course.

Thanks for the support *blush* :-)

nice range
I didnt hear the original but this sounds very good. I like the way you
layered the vocals. I have to agree with drakonis the speaking part sounds
cold just a little more warmth but overall you did a great job singing and
putting words to this song.

cut the levels after your last note! Minor nit!

Linda your voice is a beauty
I told you something about the music already - but that's not your part :)
I do agree with Doc (not often but this time :D ) you might leave the spoken part out.

I must be an oddball ....
... because the parts that other commenters didn't particular care for .. I actually kinda liked ... I think the spoken part was fine .. it came across slightly "electronic" which just sort of kept time with the beat ... I thought it worked well as a complete contrast to the swirling layerings surrounding it .... and I liked that open hollow echoing ending .... don't know why I like that sound .. but I just do .... good thing we all have such diverse and musical tastes huh .... the vocal layerings were GREAT ... I am a huge fan of that too tho .... haven't learned how to master it myself yet ...

thank you!
Thank you so much for your honesty on what you like and don't like. It's nice to know that I wasn't the only that kind appreciated that part there. People made comments that I wasn't saying it emotional enough but I guess in some sense i was saying it in the emotion that i was in a SERENE space. To each his own!!! Thanks for listening

candy to my ears
Your voice reminds me a bit of Steve Nicks from Fleetwood Mac. I enjoyed every part in here. The spoken part as well. Can't hear any thing I would have tweaked differently:)

the overall
feel of this song is great, the vocals remind me of Sarah Mclachlan, but with your own distinguishing qualities..good stuff.

holy... wow... vocals...
Very powerful performance. Perfect for the song. The only thing i would adjust slightly is the spoken prayer - not sure what, perhaps even a whisper instead of straightforward speech. perhaps phaser or some sort of distortion. the singing is enough to bring me to tears.

thank you!
how sweet of you to say my friend! Yeah I actually ended up taking OUT the spoken part later once I got the handy feedback. It was nice to fit the prayer in there at the time. I'm glad you liked my voice :-) Thank you for stopping by
