Loop It Or Lose It
After many false starts and sidetracks, I ended up slowing the loop down to 60bpm and building a chord with it. Then I piled on distortion etc. to create more of a textured effect inspired by my love of My Bloody Valentine. This resulted in a noisy organic bed which I layered on itself using the number 11 as a rhythmic device. Tracks were introduced or phased on an eleven beat cycle which set up a breathing feel. Most of the other loops used were from the TUMI loops offered here last year. After making a big mess - I added two tracks of live melodica, and one track of triggered strings, in addition to thunder, rain, and wind sound effects.
The results of that endeavor were posted here as Tectonica. Some of you folks made good suggestions and I went back to the mix - creating more space and development - which became d r i f t.
I wanna thank CHIKOPPI for setting this thing up and EGOBANDIT for lighting the fuse with “What’s all the fuss about loops?”. I look forward to hearing everyone’s entries.

we're wading through the organic morass of a prehistoric jungle and although I'm worried about raptors, I'm totally immune to fear cuz i've got this playing on my ipod. what a friggin great idea to slow this down and pepper it with the all the nuanced orchestration. very cinematic, very cool track
