Description:
A relatively new song written a couple of weeks ago. Stylistically it is just a four chord straightforward song but there is a major 7th and a diminished in there somewhere. The lyrics are just a group of images that came into my head. don't ask me what they mean. In the early Bob Dylan style they mean what ever you think they mean.
Lyrics:
Fallen angels all around
Broken wings on the ground
Saints and sinners can't be found . . . today
Nostradamus looked around
But he never ever found
Beautiful wings on the ground . . . so sad
Good King Richard sharpended his sword
Loved to kill when he got bored
His soul was rotten to the core . . . so sad
But if you're looking for love
Or a sign from the sky above
You better look within yourself
There but for the grace of living I go
Edgar Cayce had a $2 bill
He could heal with just his will
But why did he have to be asleep?
Quetzcoatyl was in the sky
But he never ever lied
It wasn't him that wanted all that blood
Bless the children and never fear
But each one will have a tear
Especially when they're living this life

Oh yes... &mdash 10/27/06 - 01:35:41 PM
...color me blown away. Wonderful (if ambiguous) imagery. I love the feel of this. Your vox is in top form and the playing is nice and soothing. Real good stuff Tom.
Be well!

Relaxed &mdash 10/27/06 - 04:27:38 PM
Thanks Mike! Definitely a relaxed, mellow song to sing.Didn't try to force the melody and kept it in my range except for maybe the first part of the chorus. Made me feel good to write it and sing it! Glad you could enjoy it also. [ Reply to This ]
Beautiful song &mdash 10/27/06 - 01:46:05 PM
This is a really great song..possibly your best yet I think. Marvellous performance and great intimate production. This could have been written by Townes Van Zandt it is so smoothly melancholic!
Fab vocals!

Townes! &mdash 10/27/06 - 04:32:18 PM
Hey Steve thanks for the nice praise! I was fortunant enough to see Townes live several times before his untimely demise. A great writer and an entertaining live performer!
When I think of a real Texan, Townes face always came to mind. [ Reply to This ]
!!!!!Great!!!! &mdash 10/27/06 - 03:56:07 PM
This is another great song Thomas!Your guitar is really shining on this one. There is something something in your songs that make me feel sad, happy, sad and hopeful. Something that makes me really connect to your melodies and lyrics. Even if I don't understand your lyrics! You trigger a lot of emotions with this song.... I especially like your last lines.. It seems like your voice is shining like it never has now. I am very glad that you are back with two songs in such a short time, hope there is more to come! [ Reply to This ]
The Double Whammy &mdash 10/27/06 - 04:40:54 PM
Magnus,
Your reaction to my song is kind of the way I felt when I wrote it. Someone once said about me that there were definitely two sides to me. One is a strong, determined, can do kind of guy and the other is a cautious, slightly cynical, rebellious guy. Those two sometimes clash in my songs and take different sides of the same argument. Of course with this one, I'm not quite sure what the argument is but I get the same kind of happy/sad thing out of it. This was one of those "inspired" songs that almost wrote itself, as if someone else was channeling through me. [ Reply to This ]
So Deep, &mdash 10/28/06 - 02:38:20 PM
Tom,
Glad you are back posting
Great Guitar Playing, excellent timing but its
the lyrics that are so darn provocative
Is it 9/11, a prelude to Nov 7th or(what I think)
A far deeper look at reality and to me I bet this song
came through you as you were playing and writing/singing
I agree with the one of the other posts that this may be your best post yet and you have posted some very good ones.
I really, really like this song, can not say enough
lyrically its a bombshell!

Mr. David &mdash 10/28/06 - 11:43:42 PM
David, it's great to hear from you. Glad you liked the lyrics and song so much! This is the kind of song I wish I could have written in my twenties but I guess with me it's taken a lot of living to get here. It is funny that in such troubled times a lot of the imagery is about prophets I have read about. I guess life is what it is and we are all just along for the ride. So my way to make sense of it is to pluck the guitar strings and write a verse or two to commemorate it. [ Reply to This ]

Really liked the straight forwrdness of the song. I've been listening to alot of acoustic/flok music lately and this is on par with some of the commercial stuff out there.

Such Sorrow &mdash 10/30/06 - 10:56:10 AM
Thank you Feter! There is so much sorrow in the world that it is hard to not let it overwhelm you. My songs are one way that I deal with that and keep on going.
Power be to all who live in music and love with their hearts! And may all be well with you especially! [ Reply to This ]
