Description:
Cell phones, cell phones!!!! Everywhere we go today there are people talking on cell phones. On the freeway at 80 MPH. In restaurants. On the street. While using the urinal. Have you ever noticed that while using cell phones most people are talking most of the time?
What ever happened to the concept of listening, occasionally, to the other person? No one ever learned anything by talking. It is through listening that we come to understand our fellow man.

I often wondered if some of the people with the cell phone to their ear and and their mouth going were simply sad souls with no friends who were faking it for the benefit of the rest of us.
Thanks for visiting and for the comment. I always appreciate it. [ Reply to This ]
Good Song! &mdash 10/29/06 - 11:31:02 PM
I really liked the energy of this song. Great concept too, the ubiquitous cell phone. It went a little long for me, but the guitars and drums were great and it did move.

I'm glad you pointed out the drums on this track. It was one of the earlier pieces I put together on GarageBand and I was proud of the drums at the time. It was one of my first attempts at using the pencil tool. I still think it is a good drum track that fits the piece quite well. [ Reply to This ]
I like this one &mdash 10/30/06 - 12:12:50 AM
Very upbeat. The mix is great! That pic you have up there cracked me up- ahhh the brick-phone days! Nice tune! [ Reply to This ]
mikey &mdash 10/30/06 - 09:16:20 AM
I worked hard on the mix of this song and I am glad you like it. Sometimes when there is this much going on in a mix, I find it hard to make it work to my satisfaction, but I like this mix. Thanks for the observation. [ Reply to This ]
Great progression and Cohesive &mdash 11/01/06 - 02:54:14 PM
Love the sound you are getting and how you progress through each movement. Flows together nicely and some neat stuff going on in there. [ Reply to This ]

I'm glad you like this piece. One of my earlier efforts on Garage band that I still like even after way too many listens. [ Reply to This ]

This is Cookin' &mdash 11/03/06 - 08:17:24 PM
Dig the beat and the intoxicating bass line. Cool, quirky cell phone rhythm going on in the left channel. Good mix but you've got this very nice recurring melody that could use to stand out a bit more. Don't know if that's a volume or EQ issue, or both. Either way, very slick tune here. [ Reply to This ]

AquilA, thanks for the comment and for stopping by. This is a song that I did a long time ago and just recently posted here on macJams. One of these days I may take a listen on my main studio setup and decide to remix it. I am always reluctant to do a remix on something that I did quite a while ago because I seldom improve a mix or a song unless I spot, almost right away, that something is not working in it. I tend to think that the mix that was created while the piece was still fresh in my mind is usually the best. [ Reply to This ]
so true &mdash 11/07/06 - 07:16:50 PM
i have on occasion enjoyed listening to people yapping on their phones.
my favorite type of person is the one that yaps away sounding really important, all the while glancing around to be sure people all around are noticing how important they sound.
you know, that scenario probably explains a few odd calls i've gotten... [ Reply to This ]

Smoky ... thanks for visiting. Years ago I worked at a radio station whose owners had invested heavily in a new technology called "cellular telephone service" Caddys, M-Benzes, Lincolns, and lots more really exotic cars would come in to have the car phone installed. They could not buy the phone, it had to be installed and leased at about a hundred a month plus airtime charges for EVERY call made. The owners gave the employees a chance to invest but I passed. Seemed to me that they would run out of really rich clients in just a short while.
Oh well ....
