I really liked the melody, then when read his comment that he'd love to hear someone sing it, I thought I'd give it a try. Thank you, Curry! I slightly modified the words and added the ocean sounds. I hope you like this collab. :-)

Lyrics:
Oceans are dying, the earth is crying
man is searching for strength
souls are dying, the tv is lying
while man, is yearning for comfort

Who will understand, how He feels
the cries from hearts,
bursting to pieces
Who can stop, this race,
only He can stop this
while man pretends we’re in a feast

He can raise the dead,
give new life instead
He can fill our broken, empty shells
He even can forgive all our evil deeds
This hope is all that we have left

Oceans are dying, the earth is crying
man is searching for strength
souls are dying, the tv is lying
while man is yearning for His comfort

Pleasant song with nice melancholy melody. Sounds like something a minstrel might perform.

Ocean sounds are a touch overpowering on my setup though.

Thank you Pete!

Admitting that mixing of ocean sounds is my fault.
Roxylee had added the beautiful ocean track in the version I got from her, and while mixing I got more and more fond of it, and in the end I probably used too much of it.

what a sweet collab you two! &mdash 11/02/06 - 04:14:53 PM
Gorgeous melody and pretty choice of instruments, I agree, lonely and longing... good lyrics. Roxylee, your singing is sweet and plaintive, goes well with this. I do think the ocean sfx, although good, are a little too loud here and often wash away the music and singing. For some reason, this sounded a little like a Joan Baez song to me... makes me want to go watch "Silent Running" again. :-)

Yeah, I idolozed Joanie when I was a teenager...That probably explains it. And my mood has been rather plaintive lately. I'm sending you the mp3 of the SR song, so you won't have to dig out the VCR. <G> Thank you for your kind comments. :-)

I loved the music in that movie, finally bought the DVD recently (I'm such a romantic.) I had bought the soundtrack on LP a couple of (ahem) decades ago... partly because the guy who wrote the music was none other than Peter Schickele (of PDQ Bach fame.) I can almost see you cross-legged, with your guitar, and "flowers in your hair.." Thanks!

Well, i used to sit out on my front porch and play and sing for the passersby, but i didn't have any flowers in my hair. I was probably wearing a Nehru shirt and bell bottom jeans, tho. Gak.

Thanks a lot Drak!

Yes again; mixing of ocean sounds is my work. I got more and more fond of the beautiful ocean track while mixing, and in the end I obviously used too much of it.
