Description:
I wrote this song a long time ago. This is my first attempt at recording on GB
Lyrics:
The sun it wants to see you,
the sun it wants to feel you,
the sun it wants to be you,
the sun it wants to burn you, hurt you.
Chorus: Sunfire grows higher inside you,
sunfire grows higher and higher,
the fire grows higher, sunfire.
The sun it wants to meet you,
the sun it wnats to hold you,
the sun it wants to beat you threw,
the sun it wants to kill me, don't let it kill you
Chorus>
The sun it wants to follow you,
the sun it wants to touch you,
the sun it wants to be in your shadow,
the sun it wants no one else to follow you.
Sunfire, it wants to burn the trees,
sunfire, it wants to burn you and me,
sunfire, don't let it hurt you please.
The sun, way up, in the sky,
the sun, it doesn't, want your guy,
the sun, it wants to take me away,
the sun, it wants to take me just for the day.
Higher chorus

I used to listen to a lot of Hole and Nirvana around the time I wrote this so...ya just a wee bit influenced by them. Thanks for the input [ Reply to This ]

I like this melody, and your voice has a rich character that is very listenable. Good Guitar strumming... so, what kind of mic did you use? It sounds a little muffled, like there's some room ambience... you may want to sing a little closer to the mic, then back the gain down a little to get rid of some of the "room" sound. Did you sing/play at the same time, or do two tracks? It is often easier to do two tracks and mix later.

I'll be picking up an addapter so I can plug my mic into the computer. I did this on two tracks, guitar first [ Reply to This ]

Nice voice .. &mdash 11/04/06 - 03:32:15 PM
.. coming from Scotland I have no idea what you are singing about ..
but .. good first post. Simple effect campfire acoustic playing, like ego
it reminds me a bit of a less husky Courtney and Hole ..
production is letting you down a bit .. but I've no doubt you'll quickly
improve that in time, if you want to head that direction - but I'm no production guru - (I've been using GB v3 myself only 6 months to date). You'll find MJs a helpful place I'm sure, as I have ... welcome
to MJs!
Did you record the guitar and singing at the same time? I feel you did
this as a Gb experiment and did a "one take" - which is impressive.
So I think you know alot of things you could do to it with more time eg.
tighten guitar playing in bits (with a bit of editing), edit or swap in
a chorus bit to replace the one "the sun" line which catches you a bit out of breath/swallowing? - perhaps play the guitar first as seperate track(s), beef up chorus vocals with some harmonies or multi-tracking and have a fade out chorus ending (say). [ Reply to This ]
were you watching...lol &mdash 11/04/06 - 07:14:17 PM
did guitar first then went back and did vocals, but ya I was swallowing that one time....I kinda just threw this out there so I could get some input, I'm new to the whole GB and MJs thing.....any advice is good advice at this point. Thanks for your input [ Reply to This ]

Like the lyrics... The vocals and the guitar playing are very good... If you have some drums, bass and a second guitar playing this acoustic song will turn a great pop song... Give it a try... I dig it [ Reply to This ]
thanks... &mdash 11/08/06 - 11:19:56 PM
for the input....I've started to work on a "second take", drums from gb are included, as well as a second guitar provided by my husband(the_laureate)....hope you come back and listen when I've finished(this may take awhile yet) [ Reply to This ]
your voice is very &mdash 11/08/06 - 06:22:17 PM
candid and personal. it's very easy to keep listening to you singing...if that makes any sense, it feels like you're in the room. great tune. i could see this being backed by a thoughtful band where there is a very tension building gradual climb leading to the end.... nice. [ Reply to This ]

I may never have heard this otherwise. You've got a great song here and a really engaging voice. I can't believe you pulled this off without a mic - but I remember doing the same thing at first. Fun - isn't it? Looking forward to hearing more from you. [ Reply to This ]
