Description:
I loved this piano line from AudioLogic... he said "add to it" if you like in the description... and I had this late nite idea.... I drew from my experience of recently visiting an ex who now lives across the street from my old apartment. Then I took this pile of samples and handmade a beat because i didn't have the bpm for AudioLogic's piano part... but also because he used a lot of rubato (which i liked) so I made this strange arcade fire-ish little song. Just a fun thing. :)
Lyrics:
i used to live on savoy street
leaves would light up in the trees at night
streetlights were magic on savoy street
i almost forgot how the air felt at 19
now you live just one house down
from where i was
i can see lights on the top floor of your tenement
building
seems as though the times have changed
moving up
moving away
i'm moving on
some people still go to the church on the corner
i saw them yesterday
Hardware:
what AudioLogic used for the piano line, then for me g4 powerbook, blue snowball mic, voice.

Yes, your voice is cool! &mdash 11/03/06 - 12:12:09 AM
and it is an interesting combination, your voice is mellow and soft, and Ben's Piano moves with alot of energy. I like the simple lyrics discribing aplace and time somewhere. The NightBird ~ [ Reply to This ]

Wow, this is pretty cool. Sorry I took three days to see it was here. I usually don't get to MJ on the weekends since I work pretty late.
I really like those echoed nuances you put in here. They mix in perfectly. Especially in the beginning and end. I'm not sure of the effects on your voice because I am not much of an expert in vocals, but I love the mono like effect it has. Your voice is really reflective here too.
Great Job.

reflection &mdash 11/14/06 - 08:40:21 PM
bitter sweet. wow i think that this is a growing up song. at a certain point i know that i found that i had enough of a history that my reflections took on a diferent emotion. they became for a better word ,lost to the past, but so important to the future. nice writing. i realy like your singing style and range here. i think that it is great the way it is but could really take on a real groove with the meter timed. i think it is worth doing a second take with a click track. tim [ Reply to This ]
stunningly creative &mdash 11/25/06 - 06:47:48 AM
wow... goosebumps. Such a creative vocal approach. Long time ago I heard that kind of artistry here and elsewhere. Your voice might not be 'academically perfect' (who cares anyway), but it has your whole soul in it. And thats waaaaay more interesting. Also, those lyrics... splendid simplicity.
In fact, this artistic approach reminds me a lot of Wildcat's 'Timeless Time' (http://www.macjams.com/song/25094). You might check it out...
