Description:
Much faster than Flower Child, much more intense so my wife mentioned that it seemed like a Japanese warrior. . . So I changed the picture :)

Hardware:
2 mics and a preamp

Maybe I listened... &mdash 11/03/06 - 09:43:24 PM
...to Flower Child when I was tired, 'cause it didn't speak to me as much as your tunes usually do. I told myself I'd come back to it another time. But then there's this, which seems to up the intensity a notch and bring the tune together a bit more. I like the drone-y runs that could be koto-ish or could have hints of Appalachian dulcimer... You have a good ear for the modal stuff, Bill, and fingers to match...

Gotta put your graphics in the mp3, though, and change the title so that it doesn't download as Flower Child 2....

It amazes me that you write 'em, amazes me that you can play 'em, and amazes me that you can even remember 'em all....

Ed

I keep forgetting to put it in. Sometimes I get a little scatterbrained.

"depth gradually kicks in"

I was thinking of having a sub heading of "Pushing into the Night" to musically illustrate how two warriors sword fight from the light of a building to the dark of the night. But everybody has their own ideas I am sure on what they hear.

Thanks for the input!

Hypnotic and Intense &mdash 11/04/06 - 07:27:29 AM
Hypnotic and intense at the same time; I think the drones have something to do with that. As always, played with tremendous skill and expression.

If I had to guess, I probably say the music has something of an Eastern European or even Middle-Eastern feel, more than a Japanese one.

And, as Ejh said, I'm amazed that you (a) are so prolific, (b) can play these things so beautifully and flawlessly, and (c) can remember them. You're an exceptional talent.

Samurai held guitar. &mdash 11/04/06 - 08:06:05 AM
You are Samurai who held the guitar.
Samurai has crossed the waters.
And, it pointed the sword of an artistic guitar ahead.

ohhh... nice style-blends &mdash 11/04/06 - 10:18:45 AM
The opening harmonic-picking (?) reminded me a little of Michael Hedges, then it began to sound like a dulcimer with the long rich sustained strings, then it launches into typical Tiler beautiful picking that is like afternoon light sparkling on the water... this is very soothing and meditative, but exhilerating at the same time. Another fave of yours, DLed for my iPod pleasure. Thank you again so much Bill, for offering us these great glimpses into your soul!

Nice &mdash 11/04/06 - 12:33:28 PM
Lovely. I hear something of an eastern sensibilty. Interesting use of harmonics and drone. Did you double up the guitar at all?

Warm sound &mdash 11/04/06 - 09:31:13 PM
This recording sounds very warm and near. I can visualize you playing this with all your feeling pouring into the guitar strings and then all the way to me... in Norway:) Fabulous! Once again I'm thrilled with your genius work.

The balanced sound of the guitar was fantastic. I enjoyed the solid floor of bass sound that followed through most of the piece and loved the end! Fantastic work. Thank you.
