Description
Written for a production of Lysistrata back in the 80's - I decided to revamp it in GB. Many layers and bounce downs on this one.

Lyrics

I hear the drums in the distance

They beckon us to war

I hear them again so loud and strong...

But I don't want to hear the drums...

anymore.

They've beaten for thousands and thousands of years

far as history and even before

but even though they've been beating forever...

I don't want to hear the drums...

anymore.

And even when I'm by myself

there's a rhythm I can't ignore

the rhythm keeps going inside my chest...

And I don't want to hear the drums...

anymore.

A different strumming pattern?
The song is good, ka-click, but the double-tracked
single strums on the acoustic guitar are making it
feel "stuttery" for me. Have you considered a more
fluid strumming pattern? I like everything else,
honest!!!!

A different strumming pattern?
Yes, and no. I understand your problem w/ the pattern, but to me it's a bit
too much of the songs character. My original take on this was actually rather
latin (as in kind of "flamenco") influenced. I think part of the problem is that it
really needs a live drummer, to adjust a bit more to the flow. Anyway, thanks
for leaving a good constructive criticism.

Like the vocals
a lot. Has an almost "Elizabethan" feel to it (like
Greensleeves) I can see Robin Hood in there somewhere
too.

Like it

Like the vocals
Thanks Ringo. I'm still intrigued by the fact that you pick up on this as
sounding Elizabethan, since I always thought of it more in terms of a latin
influence, but I'm glad you dig it.

More than meets the eye (ear)
The second time I listened I used headphones and I caught the layers beneath the vocals and guitar. There's a lot going on in this track, all of it complimenting the whole very well. The octave vocal harmonies are also very well executed.

For me, this has the feeling of a modernized Irish folk song, what with the mellow electric guitar. I can definitely dig it! (7-7-6-7)

sounds out of time
too much going on in this track, the drums and guitar
sound out of time which really turns me off it.

good production though
