annie (2)rock (1030)guitars (43)groupy (1)stage (2)roam (2)ringo (1)
Description:
Annie lives for rock music and musicians. has more testrone then a heavy metal guitarist who displays his pointy guitar as a phallic symbol. hendrix did that forty years ago get over it. a salute to sweet connie from gfrr american band and hendrix's dolly dagger

Lyrics:
Annie she goes for the guitar player
better yet if your the lead singer
she'll have you wrapped around her finger
she'll leave you bruised and battered

with a guitar strap across her shoulder
tim splayed all over his synthesizer
annie took the rocks out of the roller
she'll leave you bruised and battered

chorus
theres no place she calls home
from stage to stage annie will roam
theres no place annie calls home

annie wants music that goes to the edge
give it fast and hard annie had said
shattered glass is spread across her her hed
she'll leave you bruised and battered

musical notes she leaves after she's left
annie won'y mention for whos benefit
wild and care free annie is the best
she'll leave you bruised and battered

chorus
theres no place she calls home
from stage to stage annie will roam
theres no place annie calls home

annies energy knows of no bounds
her reputation is spread across town
annie is the muse for rock n' roll sound
she'll leave you bruised and battered

will come the day when annie's passed on
everything will change in rock n' roll heaven
excitement will start all over again

chorus
theres no place she calls home
from stage to stage annie will roam
theres no place annie calls home

theres no place she calls home
from stage to stage annie will roam
theres no place annie calls home
theres no place she calls home
from stage to stage annie will roam
theres no place annie calls home

Wohoo &mdash 11/05/06 - 01:18:44 PM
This was a cool song, sounds a bit like a modern "feminist" version of Siggy Stardust or something by Bowie. Especially like those funny breaks or interludes with the guitar, drums etc. Good job! Oh, maybe just a bit longer intro?

yeah... &mdash 11/05/06 - 04:15:41 PM
a little suffergette city. i wanted to keep the song short, even though the temptation to throw more guitar solos is always a temptation. so i compromised by adding the little pieces.
thanks for the comments!

I bet songs like this... &mdash 11/05/06 - 01:44:48 PM
...just somehow conjure up particular faces in the minds and hearts of listeners...

I continue to appreciate what you're doing with electric guitar. You use a thinner tone than I would be inclined to use, but you do make it work for you, especially with the layers. That wah sound cuts like a knife...

This thing rocks, and keeps rocking....

just be careful... &mdash 11/05/06 - 04:28:42 PM
of this girl she can cut like a jagged edge. you pretty much have it right, distorted guitars can produce a lot of mud, especially against my muddy voice. some tones on their own can sound thin, but it's how it works in the mix. high pass filters really help here. can't tell how many hours i spent mixing this....then re-mixing for the mp3 losses, ergh! originally i was going to post a song that had 2 acoustics and 1 voice, but A. i chickened out B. i wanted to rock C. i still have to get that monkey off my back.

always a pleasure to hear from you.

what! it's tax time already? &mdash 11/05/06 - 04:36:52 PM
funny how you throw the beatles at this. because, the edgy rythm guitars are based on beatles yer blues sound, and the dryness was based on the sound of lady madonna. even though this doesn't sound like either thats the way i approached it, and i approve this posting. also that's my clummsy ringo style drumming. by the way i'm older than you think! thanks cooper

Is Annie Sally's twisted sister? &mdash 11/06/06 - 12:32:31 AM
Smokin tuneage Vic! Yes, very Beatle-esque...but darker. Really enjoy your vox in this, especially the harmony background vocals. Great guitar sound throughout! Yeah, keep crankin em out!

Be well!

sneaking sally through the alley, you can just guess about annie. we knew of annies, in our younger days, how time flys and we settle down, good times. thanks for all your support. later bro!

thats the advantage &mdash 11/06/06 - 12:11:57 PM
of being a ceative/ art director, having access to cool retro clip art. takes me about 10 minutes to whip those up. i'ld draw my own, but i get a little lazy about that.

Quite the bite! &mdash 11/06/06 - 10:07:58 AM
Super driving tune here Vic, really dig the bite in the guitar. Like the chord changeups, they flow easily. Great stuff!

i really filtered the guitars because i wanted a sharp edge. especially when you have 3 to 4 electrics going. thanks for listen and comments, always appreciated.

i guess there is a style that runs through the songs, intentional or not. but, do i have class? thats a whole other subject. Vic

the singer always &mdash 11/06/06 - 02:24:22 PM
gets connie. i like it. solid mix and inspired performances on all the instruments. did you play them all? in the highest regards this def has a throw back retro sound to it. well carried and appreciated by someone who grew up (and still) listening to the gfrr/bowie collection.

i think thats why .... &mdash 11/06/06 - 03:52:20 PM
i'm learning to sing more! mixing was a bear on this, i think i'm getting better. still alot more to learn though. and that is me on everything. i probably sound a little old school is because i don't think i've heard anything, guitar driven, that has really impressed or influenced me that much. thanks for the stop by and comments. really appreciated!

Nice! &mdash 11/06/06 - 07:51:14 PM
Nice, straight forward, crunchy, energetic, great lyrics, and the vocals are perfect for a tune like this. Actually reminds me a lot of early Psychedelic Furs, same raw quality and a similar style on the vocals. Really a great tune all the way around. Enjoyed it.

i can see... &mdash 11/06/06 - 09:38:39 PM
the furs comparison now that you mention it. i agree sometimes my voice can be close to butlers. wow, i hadn't considered that. i guess thats another influence from my subconscience to surface. i'm glad you appreciated this.

very cool &mdash 11/08/06 - 04:13:04 AM
Really enjoyed this song. I especially liked the lyrics. Do you really play all of the instruments/parts yourself? The mix is good. Thanks for sharing. Well done.

thanks much! &mdash 11/08/06 - 11:28:08 AM
yep, everything is me, i find more and more that drum loops rarely fit or muddy up the track so the last several months i've been trying to add drums by playing through the keyboard, never being a drummer that has become my biggest challenge at the moment. thanks about the lyrics, as you probably gathered annie, rules the rooster bine. looking forward to more of your postings as well.

Well done that you are trying to do some of the percussion on your own. That's a great challenge! I can't wait to hear more of your postings:)

Once again I'm late to the party &mdash 11/11/06 - 07:55:50 PM
But not too late to catch the late set. This is great - really great. I love the mix and thickness of the production - backup vocals - lyrics and the break - man the break is too much. Where have I beenn all this time? Are you actually playing the drums on the ketboard? I just got an Oxygen 8 and am starting to mess around with it.

never to late &mdash 11/11/06 - 10:24:36 PM
i hope you brought more ice and beer. thanks for the kind words. yeah me drumming, two sore fingers and worn keys. i've been doing it to quite a few songs. either the loops tend to sound muddy in the mix or patterns were to much. so it became mostly out of necessity. take after take after take. besides i think theres more definition in the sound. sometimes i'll still use drum loops. party on wayne..party on garth

annie &mdash 12/02/06 - 05:40:58 PM
Vic, This is a great tune. Yeah, you are right, I think the Ziggy tone comes from the effected vocals. Nice EQ-ing between the guitars. It really gives them each their own space in the mix. I especially like that razor blade Ratt distortion, very solid-state. Cool.

i must be following you down the list. ha! of anything i'm pretty picky of guitar tones in a mix. the things you have to do to get them in there without stepping all over each other.
