Description:
Finally! My first song in Garageband!!
The guitar tracks were recorded on my Zoom PS02 palmtop recorder whilst reclining blissfully on the back porch of my cottage in New Hampshire. I then imported the tracks into GB and added vocals and software instruments. At some point I'd like to orchestrate this a bit more, but my keyboard skills are limited at the moment. I'm also pushing my voice beyond its limits, but I sorta like the insanity of it

Lyrics:
Sleepwalking blindly through bombastic blue heaven I know nothing can bother me prancing through paintings of purplish hue heaven I know nothing can bother me now I'm alone in my studio now with my canvas and candyland clouds and the paintings are telling me how they would love to be seen

art is all that matters art is love

Streaking in sapphire stroking the Seine heaven I know nothing can bother me absinthe and turpentine cadmium rain heaven I know nothing can bother me now here comes Kat the ventriloquist cow with her abstract existential crowd and the waitress is telling me how they all love to be seen

art is all that matters art is love

Hardware:
Zoom PS02 palmtop multitrack recorder, SM57 mic, my favorite cheap Yamaha FG 331 acoustic guitar, Tascam US427 interface, titanium powerbook 400mhz, Kurzweil PC88 controller

Software:
System 10.3, Garageband

More on your voice &mdash 07/24/04 - 10:51:00 AM
I think you have a great tone. Perfect for this song. This
song sounds more folk than pop to me.

Strangely familiar... &mdash 07/24/04 - 06:18:37 PM

theres a good song in there somewhere &mdash 07/25/04 - 05:35:36 AM
I bet I'd really like this song if I could just hear it. The vocals are too soft, the guitars are too loud. I'd love to hear this recorded and mixed better. I really do think there is a great song in here.

I did not vote numbers since I dont want to rate low for this.

Nice timbre and harmonizing but the lead voice needs to come forward and
have more fullness (frequency range). A better mic? The words are getting
overwhelmed by the bass. Perhaps a trip through Spark LE Plus. The song has
potential.

great retro sound &mdash 07/26/04 - 01:47:03 PM
Hi Paul_T,

could be my guitar you play there;-)

In my opinion your voice is not far away from Peter
Gabriel. Sounds a bit like P. Gabriel joining the late
Beatles.
And even the lyrics seem to be a bit "Lucy in the sky with
diamonds"-like, what I find very positive.

Anyway. I love that song.

Reminded me a little of the Beatles &mdash 08/03/04 - 04:02:46 AM
There were background vocal elements in there that
reminded me of the Beatles. Nice, quite an original sound
but the production could do with a bit of work, sounds a
little flat to me.

Nice tho'

Great content &mdash 09/21/04 - 10:01:53 AM
I like this song, it has a good message, and a very
uplifting tune... In a way, a song one can cry to alone, and
party and dance to with friends...the lyrics can be read
differnent depending on ones mood. The production is a
bit different, I like the vocals and guitars a lot.
