Description:
So, this is the second improvisation from that hot night at end of July this summer.
About the production process
Some of you have commented to the first improvisation; that though being an improvisation it sounds so well planned and well rehearsed. Well, I must tell that I'm not that kind of phenomenon to do improvisations perfectly right just like that. I actually put quite much work on the post-editing, thinning out of less forunate parts, so that you won't have to hear those. Probably more than a third of the original recording has been taken away.
The photo
The photo was taken the same hot summer as the recordings were made .. This also shows the guitar used. The photo posted for part I shows another guitar..
The background story
At the end of July I had my cousin from another part of the country visiting. Since she is one of the few existing fans of Curry guitar that I ever meet live, I lined the nylon Yamaha through the Yamaha AG Stomp and gave a series of improvisations, (also pushed the recording button in case anything would be worthwhile saving).
These are improvisations. Nothing is planned. Themes comes in the moment, or a second or two ahead. Therefore this music isn't well thought, and sometimes a little strange, but on the other hand it has the immediateness that comes from playing without knowing ahead.
I have post-edited the pieces though; cut away less fortunate parts, sometimes doubled short passages to get a more musically harmonic result, after all it is not a show-off or feat, but as something to be enjoyed as music :-)
Hardware:
Nylon Yamaha guitar through the Yamaha AG Stomp + Mac G4
Software:
OS X + LE

Hi ho, &mdash 11/09/06 - 05:18:34 PM
Hi ho, it's off to work we go.... So, with overbearing sorrow the handsome prince opens the glass encasement, kisses the lovely girl who apparrenty has passed.... in contemplation he imagines what could have been a joyous time together; what a loss to all... SUDDENLY! the beautiful girl awakens, and all color comes to life, joy is returned, and they live happily ever after.... [ Reply to This ]

Simply beaititful.... This song could tell any number of stories, all of which have a happy ending. You get so much sound and feeling out of one guitar. Real nice... :-) [ Reply to This ]

Nice improv &mdash 11/09/06 - 07:06:26 PM
... and very neat editing - you can't hear the join! Somehow it does sound like a warm July evening. I'm reminded of John Fahey's more pastoral moments. Lovely guitar sound too, Cori. [ Reply to This ]

Did I mention... &mdash 11/09/06 - 07:29:12 PM
...that I really enjoy hearing you improvise... All your influences come flying out of your fingers connected by some part of you other than your thinking mind...
I've said this before, too, but you get a lovely sound combining the pick-up in the nylon string guitar with the AG Stomp. And it sounds like it's so easy to set up... I'm envious...
Keep 'em coming!

Yes thank you Ed, it IS really easy to set up
.. and I never have to worry about environmental noises.
But on the other hand I find it quite difficult to find settings that make a nice sound, the limit between too much an too little is rather fine and easy to exceed.

Nice Piece &mdash 11/10/06 - 10:37:08 AM
Great glimpse at some improvised Curry!
I like your comment on "peeping" at the creative process. It's the same way I come up with a lot of my ideas, just play away and watch the themes unfold!

The rubato at the beginning of the song was a nice way to bring it all in. Nice use of dynamics as well. [ Reply to This ]
very nice &mdash 11/18/06 - 12:56:32 AM
You did a good job of editing. I can't hear anything but smooth sound. Of course, you had to have some nice things there to edit from, so i also really enjoyed the guitar playing. [ Reply to This ]
Very Nice! &mdash 11/20/06 - 06:58:08 AM
As others have already said, it's truely an awesome piece of work! I love your guitar and the tune somehow makes me feel like going to Hawaii.
