Description:
when i heard soulmonk's tune TRANSCENDING LOVE AND SEX...i really like it. I asked him if he minded if i put guitar on it, he said ok and here we are. I like it a lot and had a bunch of fun playing the final over the top solo...i like to try and do those last solos in one take. Any way in pursuit of a take to keep, i played for a week and really felt great!...If there is any doubt that this maybe the most exciting time in history to be a musician, these mj collaborations we are all doing are proof...we are making great music, not as solo artist, not as a band, but as a COMMUNITY. Very extraordinary, I think!

My hat's off to you all...soulmonk, this rocks and thanks!!

to congratulate you on a fab collab. If I may be so bold to say you are outside the box and I'm luvin it. Taking those blues chops and gracing this extraordinary jam you have stretched into uncharted zeteiness. The bed is a splendor of nuance and you have meshed perfectly. particularly appreciate your willingness to let some parts gell while leaving open real estate. masterful to you both.

thanks john... &mdash 11/10/06 - 10:18:59 PM
i cant create beds that have this density...and I love having this kind of stuff to work with...I wish i was fertile enough to have ideas for ALL the collabs people send, but sometimes, thru no fault of anyone but me, i get sent music i just dont feel like i can add anything too...but i love trying to fit into as many things as possible...what a way to learn!

best

Great comment. Nails it all down...

I love it when you do these stretches, Fran... Same way as I love Curry's acoustic improvs... Something gets almost spiritually stretched and twanged when a musician is exploring the unknown, stepping outside the habitual...

This is another great moment...

I also appreciate that you are both supportive of and appreciative of the extraordinary thing that the MacJams community is, and is becoming...

Great job Sir. Ziti! I love the space you created and the dynamics are top-notch... Not to mention the guitar playing is excellent. I'm very pleased that you've taken the time to add your flava to this composition.

Woohoo! &mdash 11/10/06 - 11:29:19 PM
This is really cool! You start out with this Morricone guitar mood and then the little slides and cries bubble up and a beautiful melody is born... a truly great collaboration!

you really &mdash 11/10/06 - 11:33:15 PM
bring out a lot of depth in much of your music. Love the fine touches you give to your guitar. You have great command with effects, like the quite effects from ear to ear. Wow! And the list goes on and on . . .

Way to Z !

Nice playing Fran - those two lessons certainly seem to have payed off : )

A great backing track very well augmented/interpreted by a master player - just love the way you play this style - Sapphire sings so sweet.
Thanks for this one Fran!!

Beautiful Sounds &mdash 11/11/06 - 08:14:21 AM
I know what you mean Ziti about playing over someone else's musical bed, it can very inspiring to your own playing and it sounds like you came up with a perfect fit. I especially like Soulmonk's Fender Rhodes type of sound he has.

Transcending Soul & Zetes &mdash 11/11/06 - 12:44:00 PM
This is one of those slippery songs that you cannot focus on, it does not exist entirely in our plane of existance... it flickers enticingly like a mirage... we listen, we enjoy in the most sublime sense, but then it is suddenly over, and we need to rewind and listen again, because something happened as we were listening... we were taken somewhere else, and can't quite remember it all. This is delightfully trippy, and Fran's guitar really really melts in and flows with this... its so organic and perfect... this also is a must-download, extremely tasty! Thank you two for such a beautiful journey.

Awesome playing zetes! What an interesting combination of pulsing and energetic and smooth and spacious sky. Like intimacy itself, sometimes. I'm reminded of some of Jeff Beck's more techno sounding pieces. Very cool!

Amazing &mdash 11/11/06 - 08:03:10 PM
I would not have thought Ziti would mix well with this tune. I am wrong! Nice work, Fran. I didn't mean to underestimate you, just that you surprise me everytime out. Now take some of that mellow off yer guitar setting, and let her scream! (If u want, of course, didn't mean to dictate - so selfish!)

I listened to the original piece, which is very good. But, as a guitar fan, this version drives me mad ! Congratulations for both of you. Ziti, I've been listening a lot of your stuff since I discovered MJ. I wish I could play like you, one day... Long Live Blues !

Like the fender rhodes piano, reminds of some pink floyd, (animals). As always great licks. I have a nice ziti playlist on my iPod.

I adore the guitar work throughout. Top notch playing! The metronomic drums don't do it for me though. Too me they were the antithesis of intimate. But that's just a personal taste thing. I would much rather heard this with a live drummer. nevertheless, the guitar work rescues it again and again!

Be well!

Terrific song to begin with and your cuts on the guitar add the perfect complement. Splendid. Awesome tones and mix.

Wonderfully done. Could use some words to top it off. Just kidding! The great thing about this song is it has a melody! Many inst. these days do not. A big mistake people make.

Very nice.
