Description:
Inspired by the image of a band of war-torn raccoons making there way.

Don't ask me what I was thinking, even the rhythm progression was improvised. I should point out that the title is a noun and not a suggestion!
Update: Check out Skeans very cool remix of this tune righht here...

Next Step &mdash 11/16/06 - 08:10:38 AM
I'd love for you to take a look at what you can do with this song. What do you need me to send you? Do you want me to clean it up some first?

straight in &mdash 11/15/06 - 04:17:40 PM
and straight up. very "live" one take feel. tons of energy and the tone just leaves a drift of fret smoke drifting hazily off in the distance.

Drifting Fret Smoke &mdash 11/16/06 - 08:18:26 AM
Love that image!

I was content with a pretty raw take on this one, with no pressing need to clean things up so that may account for the "one take" feel you describe.

Thanks for listening!

Melting strings... &mdash 11/15/06 - 06:48:49 PM
Exciting guitar play. I like a lot the dialog between the 2 of them. Just found the rythm section a bit soft for such a good impro. Eager to listen at your other stuff.

Rhythm Track &mdash 11/16/06 - 08:29:49 AM
I appreciate the sentiment on the soft track. It was laid out in one take with no idea where I was going. If you listen closely you may be able to tell that it even stops at one point and one of the lead tracks actually takes over for it.

This is a prime example of a quick and dirty recording session. I started it when I should probably have gone to bed so I didn't spend any time editing. I liked the energy of the piece so I thought I'd just share it as is.

Glad you liked it!

There's nothing like... &mdash 11/15/06 - 09:05:05 PM
...making some good, solid, fun electric guitar noise.... And I mean that in the best way....

Of course, my producer mind steps in and thinks, There's so many cool lines in here, I bet you could trim some of 'em back and reveal the best of each and end up with something that sounded like you were brilliant in one take....

Love the guitar tone on this very much... Strat straight into GB? You got a great sound from that...

I'm really enjoying hearing your stuff as it pops up, Pete....

Trim &mdash 11/16/06 - 08:24:29 AM
Thanks for the feedback Ed. This was a fun one. Just an exercise in improv with the intent of squeezing as much agression out of the strings as I could.

When you said trimming back to allow the gems to show, did you just mean temporarily cutting back the volume on the messier tracks to allow the better parts to be heard?

I appreciate your take on things and any feedback I can get!

Pete

Nice! &mdash 11/16/06 - 01:12:53 PM
Smokin' guitar! Track needs bass guitar. I have a base guitar. Not my first instrument but, I wouldn't mind giving it a go.

If you want to add something to this, be my guest. Skean is going to take a shot at this as well. Just drop me a note and we can work out the details.

wailing slumbers &mdash 11/16/06 - 05:29:29 PM
Peter, great jam. You mentioned above that you did this right before you went to bed? Man, this left me energized! Nice tones.

Wailing slumber. I like it.

Glad it energized you. I was feeling pretty aggressive, given the hour of the day. Sometimes you just gotta wail.

Tell me something are you enjoying MacJams? It truely inspires you to keep pushing forward and making music. Some good tones for just going straight into GB, I think it's pretty hard to do so good job.

Yes I love MJ &mdash 11/17/06 - 10:31:34 AM
It does inspire me to create. Knowing there is an audience out there with skilled musicians who offer feedback keeps me wanting to pump out the music.

Glad you liked the tone. It's just the default settings in Garageband. I usually use the Glam setting for a lot of my lead tones.

beating up raccoons huh? &mdash 11/16/06 - 11:52:35 PM
there will be people looking for you. but then again i'm sure some raccoons like it that way. hearing improvments in your compositions. beat the strat its safer that way!

That's why I made sure to hyphenate the title. Don't want Greenpeace beating down my studio door!

Juiced &mdash 11/20/06 - 09:06:29 AM
Thanks McBoy. I didn't really view this one as an exercise in creativity so much as an attempt at reckless abandon. It turned out to have a few moments that I was pleased with though.

Thanks for listening!

I likes it.

Poor Raccoon &mdash 12/02/06 - 02:25:51 PM
didn't have a chance in this meat grinder of guitar slinging.

Great tones on the guitars and your playing is very good. I like the descending chromatic riffs in there. Added color to the overall composition.

Good one.

Nice one. I wish to hear this piece a little louder but for non loudness... this is truly great. Killer tone and playing!

Cool &mdash 04/28/08 - 12:59:13 PM
Love getting a shout out from a long ago posted song. I'm really glad you liked it and stopped by to say so.

It is a little on the quiet side, for such raucous subject matter. I've got a few things still to learn about punching things up a bit.

Thanks again!
