Description:
This song is dedicated to Bill Furner (thetiler) Let me quote from an online exchange I had with him. He responded to my question about how he could be so good, and so prolific as a writer and a player. His response was in part as follows:
"So, if it's something that yell's out at me, wanting me to learn, I'll sometimes play and record up into the very, very late hours and early morning.
I think I also suffer from lack of enodorifins and I really need almost at the point of desperation sweet beautiful music so I don't have to use medications. I used to be on sleeping pills for a year cause I couldn't sleep. But I found out that didn't work very good at all. Because of my insomnia, I 've even get up very early, like this morning at 4 am to play Betsy my Santa Cruz om/pw acoustical guitar.
I love the filling of well being when I've had fun making a tune that others enjoy.
So that really gets me wanting to produce music".
Lyrics:
There are no lyrics to this song but I have written this small poem to describe this song:
"Nightbird, oh Nightbird, give us your songs
Fill the night air, fill my senses all night long
Then with the dawn, close your tired eyes
And let lesser birds use the skies".

Dawn on me &mdash 11/18/06 - 09:12:57 AM
Very strange atmos on this composition. Very sweet, but still funky due to the beautiful bass section which gives an interesting contrast. A journey from the East to the West. Mixing is perfect, which, coming from you, is not surprising. The only thing I could say is I'm not so crazy about the sound of the flute, a bit too soft for me, but it is just a question of taste. Thanks for sending me far away for a while. [ Reply to This ]

Thank you for the comment and thanks for noticing something that I worked hard on ... the bass sound. I wanted that contrast between the sweet flute and the little edge on the bass. Since I was writing a song about a man who plays such beautiful music but has a second life as a man who works hard with his hands.
Thanks for stopping by. [ Reply to This ]

I'm glad you liked the song and I am really happy that you stopped by. Like the tiler, I am always pleased, and sometimes amazed, that others enjoy my efforts because I do most of my "music' to try to keep myself from turning into a vegetable at too young an age. [ Reply to This ]

i really like the flute-like synth - the swirling strings surround me and hold my attention. then the beatle-esque vamp on the melody is just right. and i like the way you wrap it up - a nice neat pretty package. cool! [ Reply to This ]

Beatle esqe? MMMM I'll have to listen again.
I suppose some of it had to rub off onto me somehow.
thanks for the comment and the observation. [ Reply to This ]

the song from 1:40 to 2:04 reminds me a lot of the Beatles. probably from Rubber Soul or near about then - really, it does
