Description:
The inspiration for this piece came from a recent reading of Richard Dawkins' "The God Delusion." I've been experimenting with different time signatures and had this idea for a melody in 5/4. I hope you like it.

what a delight! &mdash 11/18/06 - 10:13:47 AM
An absolute delight, this tune! The 5/4 measure works wonderfully well. A fragile beauty, that is very tastefully composed and arranged. A big bravo from me!

Edgy synths... &mdash 11/18/06 - 12:02:39 PM
It's easy to get carried away with the edgy synths! I had to cut out a lot of the crunchy synths before I was happy with this track. I'm going to keep experimenting with that, I was afraid it might be a bit too distracting in the beginning. Thank you for listening and for you nice comment!

A Very Pleasant Surpise &mdash 11/18/06 - 02:34:08 PM
I love the sounds you achieved here. The song has a really nice, gentle flow to it that is refreshing. Most people try to exploit the harshness of synth waves, but you did the exact opposite and made something unique. I LOVE the appregio sounds. Everything is arranged well with nothing sounding out of place and the production is excellent. 9%u2019s all the way!

9s &mdash 11/18/06 - 02:36:17 PM
I meant to say 9s all the way. I don't know why it looks like that.

sweet simplicity &mdash 11/18/06 - 04:44:11 PM
Yup, I love the rolling quality you get here from 5/4, and the choice of synth voices is restrained and inventive... love the muffled/full bass synth along with the midrange marimboids, and the high pitched scritchythingies. For some demented reason, the very ending reminded me of a melody ringing out of the speaker on a neighborhood ice cream truck driving by.

ice cream truck! &mdash 11/21/06 - 12:48:10 AM
Does it remind you of an ice cream truck because it's sweet, sugary and creamy? I sure hope so! Thanks for your kind comments, I really appreciate it.

I love what you said, the image of rolling, dancing notes is a very pleasant one. Thanks for listening and for your kindness.

This is . . . &mdash 11/19/06 - 01:21:18 PM
tight. The composition is well done: the layers and sections move frequently enough that it never grows tired. I like the way you work here.

However . . . &mdash 11/19/06 - 01:23:58 PM
I guess I would add this criticism: it doesn't really grab me as anything powerfully unique within this genre. It is a really nice composition, but like any good cake it needs some kick-ass icing.

If you find yourself lacking finesse, a big rock will usually make a sufficient substitute.

ooh.... &mdash 11/26/06 - 06:16:42 PM
about a quarter of the way in when the hmm....what are they? almost an electronic steel drum sound ...when that comes in i get a tingle in my spine!!! how cool. this song reminds me of the ice storms in the state of maine where I grew up... it would be glorious and awe inspiring to see everything just frozen and covered in ice... but like a vacuum... no sound except the ice sounds. Like another planet. This is so beautiful.

very nice. &mdash 11/29/06 - 12:15:14 AM
really intricate composition. I like it. Maybe you could add some "icing" on here as previous comments have suggested....but I personally like it as is.
