Description:
This piece is based on an experience I once had of
hearing a young man performing on a wooden flute when I was at the Port of Chittagong, Bangladesh. He played solo and out came nothing but the most soothing sounds.

Many thanks to Feter on this project. This is not an attempt, by any means, to be authentic in eastern traditional scales but an impression.

Enjoyed &mdash 11/19/06 - 11:17:17 AM
Soothing sounds, love the addition of the sounds like what I think is a boat whistle, clanging, water etc. All fist is quite nice.

Really creates a nice scene!

Way to go you guys!

Thanks for sharing

I know the secret of the eastern insterument
is very clear here ...but sure you put alot
of your character here all along with those
mysterious eastern chords ..these are the
impressions ,you realy opened a real wide
screen and been able to create the atmosphere
the percussions and deep strings ..very nice
scene ... a real master piece ...thank you
for sharing it here ...!

p.s
its my pleasure .. it was a tool and you
were the master to carve the great work with !

Wonderful flute! &mdash 11/19/06 - 05:40:30 PM
Scotty, however did you re-create that wonderful throaty sound of the wooden flute? Just absolutely wonderfully done, and inclusion of the ship's bell and whistle brought back some fond memories for me.

God bless,

Rick

Closing my eyes... &mdash 11/20/06 - 09:05:08 AM
... while listening took me away for a long journey inside my head at the other side of the world, full of fragrances and colors. Beautiful music, but just one (tiny) remark : the boat's siren ends too abruptly, no ? I wish it could go as it comes, as bring by the wind. Thanks for the trip.

if i was ever to commission a piece of music for thoughtful contemplation...this does it for me. You've captured just the right amount of eastern scales to push the eastern experience, but embellish it with such wonderful backing parts as to keep the interpretation open to the listener. nice job with the sound fx, and percussive elements as well.

Exotic &mdash 12/15/06 - 12:49:34 PM
Beautiful soulful layers of sounds from the east. An exotic melange put me right there.

I must go home and download this (I've been grading papers at school, during a prep, with this in the background).

You write and play wonderful music, sir.
