Description:
Remixed, re-edited, rewrited (a bit, bridge and end). Added some instruments (cello and nylon guitar, mainly). Thanks to the announcer for his help. It was hard to mix. Sounded quite nice at the end in the headphones, but terribly in the CD player. Anyway, I'm far from beeing a pro...

Hardware:
Guitar Ibanez Artist

interesting mix of instruments.

the "noise snare" seems a bit too loud early on, but once the guitar enters, the level seems just right.

the chords near the end are nice.

thanks!

Thanks. &mdash 11/20/06 - 04:18:03 AM
Mixing is very new to me, I need a lot of improvement in it. For me, it's a bit like grading a film in a lab and then watching it on different monitors, including black&white. But if I'm a professional in this sector, and I'm lost in the other. Thank you for your kind comments.

nice tonal colors......and expressive guitar licks.......kool...try adding some breaks(drums, synth n drums,etc...) and dynamics(loud to soft or vice versa) to give the composition a little depth and tension and release.......kool track...

I'm blushing... &mdash 11/21/06 - 03:31:46 PM
... to receive these cool words from you, one the (if not the) best MJ's guitar player (Grout Shout, to name one, is simply jaw dropping). From the first day here, I eagerly follow your work, and every post you make is a treat for my ears, when not complety discouraging me from carry on playing my bloody 6 strings ! Without any real knowledge of musical theory, I'm just composing with my ears and feeling. You give me good energy to go on, learn and work. Thanks for your support.

Je veux bien! &mdash 11/21/06 - 10:41:12 AM
J'aime cette chanson (est-ce qu'on peut dire 'chanson' si elle n'as pas de lettres?). On vera que je ne sais pas parler franais tres bien. Pardon ! I'm trying not to comment in English, but I've only been taking French lessons for about a year! Anyway, I really like this groove, I used that drum loop on one of my firs GB attempts but my song was a lot slower, I think it works best at the tempo of yours. Nice work. -Serge (comme Serge Gainsbourg!)

Écrire en français &mdash 11/21/06 - 03:47:46 PM
... est très pénible sans les accents. Mais ton français est remarquable pour quelqu'un qui le parle depuis si peu. Just one little mistake, you get confused with "lettre" and "parole". Don't worry, the sentence is perfectly understandable. Glad and honored you liked my "song". Eager to listen more from you (and in spanish, I hope !)

Kool indeed! &mdash 11/23/06 - 05:42:39 AM
Some interesting combinations of real and virtual sounds here Youra. You get a really nice tone on the Ibanez - and the synths/looped percs blend very well together. The mixing and final production sounds good to my ears. Congratulations on this - trs bien, j'aime beaucoup votre chanson.

Yeah! &mdash 11/23/06 - 07:52:07 AM
The mixing here seems fine to me.
I think you have a good song here. Very cinematic indeed.
I think there is one more layer missing, although i am not sure what it is.

great guitar playing on such a very electronic feel. I like the combo
Reminds me of some solo Andy Summers

Nice mix of instruments and arrangement.

Interesting use of Strings as Picket Line/Rhythmic.

Don't worry about the CD player. That takes some time to experiment with all the elements of the mix, the filters and plug-ins. The music matters more.

Nice Listen on these phones, Man.

Best to You,

Cooper

Hi Coop ! &mdash 11/24/06 - 11:42:54 AM
Thanks for your lending me your ears. There are so much things for me to learn at the moment, all these tweaks... gives me headaches. So glad you liked it !

Great initial cut. I love the juxtaposition of the strings and distorted guitar. The synth bass seems a little out of tune though for some reason. Not completely, it just bends to a flat- kind-of. I'm no trained musician either, so I could be totally wrong. A real mix of styles and sounds. You have a great ear. for composition.

Sub bass, maybe &mdash 12/04/06 - 01:15:50 PM
I remember, when I made it, I was close to the same questionning. I doubled the bass line with a sub synth, to give more depth. Yeah, it's maybe something in the subs, I felt a bit uncomfortable with it at first, but, as I got accustomed, and not seeing what I could do better... but I quite like assonance, I have to say. Thanks for your comment. Coming from you, touches me really deep.

Cool &mdash 12/06/06 - 12:43:06 PM
Excellent combination of synths and the guitar. On my cheap earphones the mix sounds perfectly acceptable. The bass is maybe a bit far to the left, and I don't see why it would come in together with the guitar. You can probably add it to the mix earlier. But the whole thing is enjoyable to listen to.

Cool &mdash 12/06/06 - 01:48:45 PM
The bass (doubled) are normaly in the center, I mixed it that way. Maybe what you're earing is a sub-bass already mixed in the drums, I don't know. You're probably right about the guit coming too soon. It's a piece I may rework later, at the difference of Sturm Stut, which was made just for party. Great thanks for paying attention and useful comments, Vic.
