Description:
This is the third improvisation made that hot night in end of July this summer. This part is shorter than the previous ones.

Renamed
Parts I and II of what I previously called "Sweet Suite" is posted. Then it struck me that this is not a musical suite really, just a series of improvisations. I feel that a muscial suite should have some kind of succession, so that one part builds further on the previous. Am not sure that these parts do. They do not in any thought out way anyway. So I renamed it — this one and even the previous posts in my songlist.

Some distortion
If you hear a buzzing sound somewhere in the middle it is not your equipment erring. It is one of the lower strings of my guitar doing the sound — don't know exactly why.

The background story
At the end of July I had my cousin from another part of the country visiting. Since she is one of the few existing fans of Curry guitar that I ever meet live, I lined the nylon Yamaha through the Yamaha AG Stomp and gave a series of improvisations, (also pushed the recording button in case anything would be worthwhile saving).

These are improvisations. Nothing is planned. Themes comes in the moment, or a second or two ahead. Therefore this music isn't well thought, and sometimes a little strange, but on the other hand it has the immediateness that comes from playing without knowing ahead.

I have post-edited the pieces though; cut away less fortunate parts, sometimes doubled short passages to get a more musically harmonic result, after all it is not a show-off or feat, but as something to be enjoyed as music :-)

The moods flow together &mdash 11/21/06 - 05:04:23 PM
There's nothing like a live, spontaneous concert. Thank you for letting us "peep." Very pretty. :-) I didn't hear the lyrics.

I wish I could do that.. &mdash 11/21/06 - 05:36:38 PM
I wish I could just sit down and play stuff like this. And not necesserally stuff like this - I'd settle for something half as good as this. A quarter, even.

I've never understood you improv guys... and I'm not sure if I want to, yet - it'd take away the magic of this, heh :)

A lovely display of your musicality and talent.

Thanks for letting me 'sit in' on this.

Important creative process &mdash 11/21/06 - 06:21:04 PM
Hi Curry, Improvisation often gives us a couple of 'gems' that can be further developed. In all three parts that you shared with us, I heard more than a couple of 'gem-like' passages that could be further developed into full length compositions. Sounds to me like your session on that hot day in July was very fruitful. I know it was very cool to listen to! :-)

God bless,

Rick

Fantastic improv! I love the lilting feel to the piece - a very nonchalant sound.

You took me to that hot night in July and then cooled me off with the breeze from the strings on your guitar.

thanks

Nice that you are able to just pluck out an amazing improvisation like this :-) It's about as nice as can be on the ears.

Like your previous impro. I noticed already you're a very talented guitarist. This one goes directly to my heard. Cheers, mate !

They may not be a suite... &mdash 11/25/06 - 03:56:07 PM
...but they sure sound sweet! Ever think of running all the parts together in a single track? I know it would hold my interest and attention. Nice work as always. And let's all raise a toast to spontaneity!

Be well bro!

Hurrah for spontaneity &mdash 11/27/06 - 11:26:47 AM
All the best stuff comes through improv, I find ... and when your playing is so good that even an improv comes out sounding like it's been practised and polished (as yours does) you can't go wrong! It's nice to hear the tune wandering off down different pathways towards the end.

Apologies if I've been neglecting you recently ... I have been looking after ill cats and have got very behind with everything.
