Hey Bill, this sounds beautiful and I don't think it needs drums. It goes perfectly with that song art.

Now that I've heard the version with the drums too, I do think I like this version better. I liked the mix with the drums, but they're probably not necessary for this song.

I can't imagine this WITH drums ! &mdash 11/22/06 - 07:19:25 PM
What a beautiful piece of music you've got going on here. I really can't imagine it with drums, and they would have to be very light in order to not take away from the beauty you've got going on here. What a great piece !

I think this is better, Bill... &mdash 11/23/06 - 09:39:05 AM
I'll be honest and say that I'm finding the string pad a little intrusive, in the sense that I find that it's drawing my attention away from the playing, and I can hear the start and stop points in a way that I wouldn't if it was real strings. Listening over my headphones as I am, they seem to be in two different acoustic spaces. Might simply be that the strings are fine but just a bit too loud for my taste. And I'm not opposed to synth strings in a blend like this, 'cause you, among other people, have shown previously how it can be done right.

That's my 'critical' take. Bear in mind that I always stand in awe of your touch on the guitar...

Ed

Nice, airy sound &mdash 11/26/06 - 01:28:42 AM
I like the space you give to the guitars, and I don't think you could do that as well musically without the string pad, but you might mix it back a little bit. The small percussion sounds are nice, but could also be centered and back a little bit. The harmonics as played on the guitar are really nice. All in all, a very relaxing, reflective piece.

Very good tune. I like the different styles of guitar playing you do here. Nice and calm mood. Professional performance.
Of the two version I like this one better:)

Sitars & Sandpaper &mdash 11/28/06 - 10:26:50 AM
Beautiful piece of music here Bill. Sounds like a bit of sitar style playing going on there which adds an interesting element.

The percussion that sounds like rubbing sandpaper is cool but I think it's a little too loud in the mix given it's intermittent nature. It really pops out when it appears, maybe a touch more than is warranted.

But what do I know! I couldn't mix a bag of flour!

Relaxing &mdash 11/28/06 - 02:15:33 PM
PV got it right in his comment above - this song sounded good with the drums, but it doesn't need them. Without them this is a bit more natural, somehow - a little more flowing. I find it easier to picture myself on that beach in the picture when listening to this without the drums.

I can't say that I agree with Ejh about the strings. I didn't find them intrusive at all, although it wouldn't hurt to turn the volume down on them just a tiny bit. Then again, I'm listening to this on speakers instead of headphones so it might have something to do with that.

But it sounds pretty good on my speakers.

All in all a nice little relaxation piece.

Lovely work!

Another fine tune... &mdash 02/07/07 - 02:29:37 PM
...and impeccable performance.
Reminds me of some slack key I've heard. Is that what the palm tree's about?

more of just a laid back feel. &mdash 02/08/07 - 02:13:08 PM
Thanks, but the slide does have an added easiness to it i think.

Thanks again
